More information on coming update.

So for a little while I thought forbidden rooms were impossible because I hadn't yet implemented a number of features for it. I have now concluded that is wrong. So, forbidden rooms are being assigned, you can go into one and be caught for it. And uh...then nothing else works from there. So yeah, that needs to be fixed. Once I've got that working, I'm gonna make a minor tweak to pathing, basically force everyone to actually go to classes when you do, so if you didn't trigger an event NPCs don't just sit there doing nothing.

I think with those two changes, it should be enough to release, and I'll then move on to other things for a while. Sorry this takes so long all.

Apologies and explanations of a sort.

Sorry I've been absent for so long, real life has been happening on and off for the past month and I've been generally distracted by it. So I figured I'd make a post now to confirm that I'm back to work on Shield High, and as of just a moment ago, I got the dialogue thing working. It was having a few issues which originated from my horrible organization. This has now been fixed.

Exactly how long it'll be before I've finished, I have no idea. The work I need to do is pretty sweeping and I can't pin down a proper estimate on how much will play nice and how much won't. Hopefully I can knock it over in a week or two. More likely two.

Just, letting you all know.

Update! Update!

Yes, I did it! I made a randomly occuring event in Shield High! I really, really wish I hadn't thought this was a good idea. It was a dreadful idea. You have no idea the amount of overhauling that I'll have to do on account of this update. To be fair it's an overhaul I'd have to do regardless but I just became aware of it today because of this so I'll blame this feature on it. I'll be working on tweaking some of this weeks stuff, making the event open the dialogue window for instance, so you can see who's molesting you and also so you can't just run past it by accident. Also a lot of behind the scenes stuff to make things flow nice, fixing that godawful issue that prevents you (or at least me, no one has yet reported this to my knowledge) from advancing beyond the second week, and hopefully adding in randomized forbidden rooms, as a start towards making rule systems and things.

Obviously this will NOT be ready by next week. Expect 0.63 to be a few weeks out, as I wanna basically polish up the various badly implemented features and generally try and be a proper programmer or something.

Anyway, download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5vbo5zv42d54djp/Shield_High_JS_0.629.zip

In other news, how the hell am I popular? I'm so bad at this. Why do you people support me?

Enjoy!

Neeeeeews

I wanted to update tonight. Everything was looking dandy for it, I've added a random event, it activates in the fashion that I want it to. It just...doesn't change the text to match who's activating it. And the text isn't wrapping. And I'm not entirely sure why. I'm not in a state to sort it out tonight, I'm thinking about elaborate memory-erasing stories right now. It's really distracting. So...hopefully I'll solve the issues tomorrow and there'll be a release then. If I don't, I'm just gonna move on to working out forbidden rooms and do them both in one go. I actually really like that idea, let's me reset my schedule and also complete all the enslaved content stuff I wanted to do in one go. Without any actual content.

We'll see tomorrow.

Shield High 0.628 releases. Pudding Earl almost forgets how to spell Shield.

I see the word a lot okay? Sometimes it stops looking like a real word. Anyway, yes, 0.628 is here. What's in it? A lot of NPCs walking around and not much else. A couple of them have been mis-matched with their pictures. I'll fix that next week. Either way, the school feels like a school now I think.

So, next week, what's coming? Assuming it even is next week, there will be a final event for the enslavement stuff, which will work off of rooms you're forbidden from entering, and if you get caught in them. That'll basically take up the whole week to program I reckon. After that we'll do some more Stacy story because I kinda have to keep the story going, then brush up some more on the enslaved stuff again. I will *attempt* to write more scenes, but no promises.

Anyway, download here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6ve1qtgbixldr66/Shield_High_JS_0.628.zip

Enjoy looking at pretty pictures and tell me who your favorite is. I personally am fond of Miranda, so expect a plot for her eventually.

Lies and Slander

Release tomorrow. I huuuuugely over-estimated how big my attention span for mind numbing extracting character images from bigger ones is. Turns out it's not big enough to do that and then program. And name characters. So, cut outs tonight, programming, naming, release tomorrow.

If there's no release tomorrow, that means I'm just giving up and adding some more content or something on top of it and going to release next week. We'll see.

Shield High to release tomorrow.

I've been making characters and stuff, ready to give Shield High a small population boost in preparation for the new events and stuff, just been out all day and in no mind set for working tonight, so I'm going to just put it off from what would be my usual release schedule (ha ha very funny usual release schedule) and put out the update tomorrow.

In other news having spent a week looking at Shield High uniforms on new girls I've basically been falling in love with my game all over again, so morale should be at the highest it's been in a long time. New girls are really pretty. At least, in my opinion. Going to be trying to do some writing too while I'm at it.

So, enjoy tomorrow, I suppose.

Shield High 0.627 releases

I'm way too excited by this release. What's it do? It adds pathing. How does that work? Simple, as you walk around the school, so does everyone else. They will wander out of class while you have time to do things, and then onto the next class when it's supposed to start. Every two rooms you move the NPCs move one. This is basically to stop them being too fast for you to catch up to them and intercept. The reason I'm excited by it is it suddenly has given the game that first real spark of life it needs to be the game I want it to be.

As for why I'm doing this...random events during enslavement. I will spend this week pondering how to do them while I design pretty pictures of new characters to populate the school and wander around it all. This will provide you with a lot of NPCs to run into, thus prompting lots of options for random events, and getting caught disobeying your Mistress, which is basically the point of all of this.

Given how lovely pathing looks now I may look into doing some more elaborate pathing in the future, but I don't know, probably not honestly. Anyway, download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/l8l1a0bbetl52hm/Shield_High_0.627.zip.

Not bothering to put it on the sidebar this time because I wanna get it to the place I feel it should be for this promised slave content before I put up new updates. Also lazy.

Hope you enjoy and that it's not too buggy. If it is please tell me since I just ran around for like, a minute.

Pudding Earl

Monday 22 September 2014

Information regarding update.

There will be an update this week. In an ideal world that update would be tomorrow, as I've got all the code for pathing in place and I just need to set up everyone's paths and test it. Which is why I say in an ideal world because if there is unexpected bugs it may delay me a bit. Not sure how much of a delay it may produce though.

If I end up having a couple days delay, say, if it's not out by Thursday night, I will simply give up on this week and move the intended update date to the week after and then add more NPCs once I've finished the bug fixing.

As for why I haven't released sooner, long story short, net was capped for half a week. No internet does terrible, terrible things to one's morale when it comes to working on games. So yeah, I got almost nothing done that week sorry.

Pudding Earl

Tuesday 9 September 2014

The Situation

I just finished the pathing map. I hate coding forever why did I ever think this was a good idea oh my god.

Okay, got that out of my system. Should have pathing working in the next couple of days. Making this map took longer than expected. Not that it was hard. It was just so tedious I couldn't do more than two or three rooms most days. I ended up finishing it while watching the GSL. Which if you don't watch, you should. Because it's amazing.

Anyway, another point of news, I am possibly going to be splitting this blog into two blogs at some point because a friend of mine wants to put out some of his work under the Pudding Games banner (there's actually a lot of people who fall under it they're just all too lazy to make games). Since it's not an adult game I'd be turning this blog into the normal not 18+ blog and making one that is for Shield High and other such games when they happen. This would also let me put out any other stuff I come up with (mostly tabletop roleplay stuff I guess) without immediately associating it with Shield High. Just so you all know. It's not likely to happen any time soon.

Anyway, release sometime next week probs.

Saturday 6 September 2014

Hypocrisy ahoy!

So I just read that post I made about not giving updates and how I should do that more often. Then I realized I hadn't done that more often since saying I should. So here's an update. Haven't been working that much since the last update, depression coupled with not being entirely certain what to do on the enslaved stuff lead to me just stalling out. Then I went to my mother's for a few days so no work there, but I'm now back at it. I'm currently working on pathing, which is taking a long time because soft coding it all in wasn't working, so I'm hard coding it much to my dismay. Should be less time intensive it's just really, really boring. Once that's done I plan to put every character from the original game in, and then add a bunch more. The goal will be to fill the game with all the characters I could need for the future, get them all walking around the school and just make the school feel busy. Then I'll be back to writing out some enslaved events, primarily the ones that will revolve around not being allowed in places, or random events based on people you run into, since both work off of pathing. Beyond that I'm not sure what I'll be doing.

But yeah, that's where things are at. Really sorry for being so sporadic.

No release this week

I've been super scatterbrained this week and doing things is just hard. So I wasted like, half the time I could work. And I don't want to put the pressure on myself to rush out a half-assed amount of content for a token update. So, no update this week, and I'll try and be more on top of things next week. Sorry guys.

Tuesday 19 August 2014

Shield High JS 0.626 released like I have a schedule. Critics shocked.

Ha! That's a joke. I have no critics. Only praisers. That is also a joke.

Anyway yes, I've added a LITTLE BIT of content to this update. Pretty much, the three features that I promised. I haven't yet been bitten by the writing bug, so I haven't got any new content yet. I actually need to change how events are selected, so that I can make them all general but also specific in a way. Sadists are sadistic, girls with other slaves involve them, all that stuff. It's an easy thing to set up, it'll just take a bit of time, and once it's done I should be more inspired to write.

Anyway, download just finished uploading so here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pbpfvvdq4bb8d4g/Shield_High_JS_0.626.zip

Looking at the post from last week I'm not sure about all those features I promised. Not to say I don't intend to do them just that I don't want to dwell on this content for too long and lose sight of everything else that I need to do. So, I'm going to spend the next week or two, maybe three, adding a bunch of content, and then declaring 0.63 and starting on a different part of the update. Likely going to do a menu, level ups, all that pretty stuff soon. Then while I make the Stacy fight I'll re-balance fighting to be more...detailed and less spam-y. I'd aimed to do that originally but it just didn't work out, and now you basically win by AI being too dumb to capitalize on being ahead. Or ever get ahead.

Anyway, stuff that WILL be added:
-Detailed event selection based on how good you've been and other factors.
-Random events in some capacity. There may only be one or two of those.
-Enough events to make playing as a slave for a week or two worthwhile.
-Status tracking to try and escape. A lot of this will be "under the hood" to start with, until I get around to menu screens where I can put all this good stuff.

Stuff that's a maybe:
-Forbidden rooms. I want to get this done but it might not happen at this stage.
-Pretty much any form of detailed interaction, jobs to do, rules to follow, etc.

In fact, speaking of that jobs point, I might simply make jobs in general a thing and tack it onto the menu that I want to make. Give you a way to keep track of suggestions made by friends, fights you've picked, etc. We'll have to see about that one.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy what little changes I've made.

Glitches: Found. Update: Present

Yes, I finally worked out my glitches. Some of them were that pesky "hasText" tag I often forget to set. I should've remembered to check my debugging manual. It's the second point on the list. Anyway, that having been said, it's not ready for an initial look. It's far, far from complete, but you have a very limited amount of events that you can go through when you get enslaved by Karen. Also only the text for obeying exists right now because...I just pulled the old events for it.

Coming next week assuming there's time:

-Disposition will actually work. Kind of important. Oh yeah, that reminds me, you can now see disposition. That went in for testing but will probably stay in since I needed to do it eventually.
-States. Like how you had a thing telling you if you were naked/collared/whatever in the old version. This will be added largely to let you know the details not covered in the next one.
-NEW PICTURES! Yes, Jessica will get a picture with a collar, and you'll be forced to walk around naked, or in your underwear, or whatever.

After that:

-Forbidden rooms. Basically, having a few places you're not allowed to go to and will get punished if you're seen in. This will also prompt me to update the number of NPCs in the world, and/or fix up pathing.
-Random events. Events that happen because you're a slave. Some of these will be as a result of being stripped or whatever. Some will end up as a side effect of orders. (Ordered to present yourself to everyone, etc.)
-Status to track how much a good girl you've been. This'll be used to determine game overs or escapes. Submit too often and you'll get a soft game over. Submit too little and you'll get a hard game over. This will roll into the eventual stats screen I want to add, and thus lead onto leveling up.

Okay so, that was a lot of information and normally I put a download link before all of that but yolo. Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2d2vf27irvndib1/Shield_High_JS_0.625.zip

Explanation on the delays

Okay so, this new system has been a constant run of glitches that I don't fully understand why they're happening. Every time I solve one I find a new one and then everything goes wrong and I don't even know what's going on with my game right now. Sooner or later it'll end up fixed. Now is not that time. I have no idea how long it'll take me to sort this. On the plus side, once it's sorted, it should be (at least half) done for now and I can stop fussing. Just so you all know why I haven't released when I said I would.

Sorry about all this.

Pudding Earl

Monday 4 August 2014

Maybe a delay

I hit a bug. Instead of fixing it I completely changed how I'm approaching the immediate situation. It's not a huge re-work but it means pulling up everything I've done so far to make it fit. I'm probably going to only release with three events that existed in the old game and a bit of placeholder text to simply test that the system works and check people like the general direction I'm starting it off on.

Point is, I may take a day or two longer than I'd like to get it all together. Just so you all know. Sorry about this, I wanna get this as right as I can.

News and stuff.

Y'know, I now understand why some devs have such huge gaps between updates. In terms of news I mean. It's so easy to just...not think about it. I should probably stop doing that. Anyway, an update on progress.

I spent a solid 2 weeks not sure how to tackle the problem. Then I went to Japan for 10 days. It was really fun. But now that I'm back, I'm back to work, picking apart the problem. After I spent a couple days relaxing and finding inspiration and stuff. So, tonight I finished the first draft of the code, and now I have to write a couple of events. I'm hoping to update next week with a VERY basic system, and then the week after with a bunch more events (I'm anticipating 5 on the first update, 10 on the second for a total of 15). This should make being enslaved interesting enough to have a little content, without bogging me down with so much writing I can't do combat. From there it'll be back to combat and adding in stat screens/character customizing etc.

Really sorry about the massive delay, I will try to be more talkative in the future.

Shield High JS 0.624 Releases

Ta-da! I kept a promise for once, and did the testing and stuff tonight. There's currently a few small problems with the new bet system but I'll fix that up later. Right now it doesn't really have a major impact on the game, it's largely just necessary framework for the future. So it's like most features really. Anyway, Andriana fight should have all the necessary stuff for being wrapped up added. I don't actually know. I didn't test it. I got tired of re-doing everything from all the testing the bet system.

Anyway, download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ggj31vn6kandu3o/Shield_High_JS_0.624.zip

Pick a path from the old game, see if it still works. The fight against Melanie has been removed though. I think the rest should be functional though. I *think*. Anyway, next update will involve some enslaved content. Requests would be appreciated, as I only have a few ideas for features in mind right now. Please note this will not be the total enslaved product, but more like, four or five events that can happen in it, just to give you something to do in the meantime. I'll also be writing fight entries for Stacy, so if the slave stuff proves really tricksy that might end up being released first. I don't know.

Anyway, enjoy!

Pudding Earl

Tuesday 17 June 2014

Yes there is a release coming.

Okay so, I planned to make a release last week, but then family-related delays came up. So I planned to release this week. Now programming-related delays have come up. So I'm just posting to let everyone know that yes, there is a release coming out this week. It would've been finished tonight but I remembered at the last minute the new bet system needed some more tweaking because I'm an idiot. So yeah, tomorrow or the day after. We'll have to see.

Also yes, since you all asked, slave content will be next.

Pudding Earl

Wednesday 4 June 2014

No release just yet. Also a vote.

So like, I aimed to do a release this week. And then as I was touching it up tonight, I realized it was still a bit bastardized. Which is to say I realized that the whole, claiming Ginger and Naomi thing wasn't an option. So I need to fix that up. That means making a couple new systems to make as much of a generalized tool for the trades and offers on combat to allow for the more free-form game I'm aiming to end up with. So I'm just going to not make a release this week until I've got the Andriana stuff all prettied up.

In the meantime, I'd like to ask all of you guys what you think I should be doing. Obviously I'm putting work into getting the main story caught up and stuff. But I though maybe that shouldn't be my immediate priority. So, I'm asking my dear fans what they want. More story progress to get to the new content asap? Making the being a slave systems work? Try and add interesting things to do with slaves? Make all the weekend options work? Make all the NPCs do things? (moving not included because I tried to create pathing and that didn't work out) Re-fix the combat system? Add the experience system? Improve AI? There's like, so many things I could do right now and I have no idea. So like, opinions please.

If I only get a couple votes (which I expect is the case) I'll just continue re-contenting because that's just the easiest thing to do right now.

Shield High JS 0.623 releases. Saves the day.

So what's new in this update? Not content, that's for sure! But I did make a fairly tentative and ramshackle save system which is put into the game. At present you can only have one save. Really, that's all you need at this stage. It's mostly just meant for making testing easier. Down the line I will have to re-do parts of it to play nice with future content. And also add to the whole, making multiple saves thing. Right now it saves to your Shield High folder, is called "Save File" and contains a whole bunch of magical numbers and words. Feel free to fuck with them. Tell me what happens. I'm curious as to how broken you can make it. Or don't, y'know, if you like games not breaking.

Download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jkwd872j269uubi/Shield_High_JS_0.623.zip

This week I promise, after taking a day or two off to recover from save file shenaningans I will make Angel play nice with the whole Andriana plot, and then include the post-fight fuckings. There will be no losing plot just yet though, as much like losing to Karen, that whole bit needs to be re-done to fit in line with the new, more ambitious direction of Shield High. Following that I'll be putting out the Stacy fight, and then slowing down to do some slavery programming I think. This plan is really tentative for the time being. Sorry things are taking so long.

Pudding Earl

Monday 19 May 2014

More Lies. Also News.

So, I looked at the code a bunch of times. Other than the two things I promised last week I can't see anything I can easily do without a lot more stuff written up. So like, I could've tried to get them fixed up, but really, that'd just be putting off what needs to be done to get some hollow praise for putting out a new release and as much as I love you guys telling me you love my work, I'd rather you tell me you love the brand new features I've added. So, this week, I'm looking at how to make save files. It's proving...a little tricky. Mostly just wrapping my head around the process. I imagine once I've got it all sorted in my head it'll be easier. Anyway point is, that's what I'm doing, so it might take a few weeks to get it all sorted.

Also I need to know, where do people want their save files going? They're going to probably be editable in some way, so I suppose you'd want them easy to find, but I don't think just throwing them into a folder in documents is a good idea with a porn game. So, feedback, where should I put them?

Thanks for your patience,

Shield High 0.622 Release

Remember when I said there'd be a release next week? Yeah, me too. Okay so, why did this take so long? I actually did testing, that's why. Turns out one of the functions I was counting on for my event generation, which I'm using for the Andriana plot, was COMPLETELY broken. Like, it did not function at all. I ended up making a whole new method of scheduling events. And before that I struggled with the Melanie buttons. Turned out I'd forgotten to label them as having text. Good job me. Anyway, here it is, 0.622, complete with Andriana fight.

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/n6sg3alt3i8q332/Shield_High_0.622.zip

As always, glitch reports appreciated. Right now the Angel content just doesn't work, I didn't get around to setting it up for 0.62 and since then it's been nothing but bug fixing. Also, after the fight it does the flickery thing. Same basic problem as the Angel stuff, when I first did it I had time constraints and then I wanted to get this to you guys as quickly as possible. Next week at least one of those two issues will be fixed. Hopefully both so I can re-work a bit of the old Angel stuff and get it into the game in an updated state.

Thank you all so much for your patience, I really appreciate it.

Enjoy

Quick explanation for no release.

I went to my mother's for a couple days and forgot my charger. That's...basically it. So I didn't have my laptop stable enough to work. I watched warehouse 13 instead, if you're wondering what I did. You...probably weren't. Anyway, new release...sometime next week, since I'm also working on a new project (not game or porn related don't worry) which is taking up my thoughts lately. But I will find the time to program and get everything to play nice I'm sure.

Sorry all,

Pudding Earl

P.S. Warehouse 13 is pretty good. If you haven't seen it you should.

Tuesday 8 April 2014

New Version. Probably less bugs.

Okay so like, I'm not entirely recovered from the whole, hiatus thing. Just throwing that out there straight up. That's why this version is once again releasing without testing. I was going to, I wanted to, and then it came to tonight and I just...didn't want to deal with Shield High. So I got done the most obvious fixes, so now characters won't crash the game when you talk to them, and Angel is back where she belongs. Beyond that, no testing done yet. I'll probably do my own tests this week, but as always, a bit of help is nice, and hey, maybe I'm some amazing programmer who made literally no mistakes beyond this small over-sight and it'll now function perfectly. It's possible. Not likely though.

Anyway, download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/d60ot44f2ftju0u/Shield_High_JS_0.621.zip

In between bug hunting and writing, I'm planning to push Shield High's technical limitations. This involves adding a ton of characters to it to see if having around a hundred or so characters on the list slows things down too much. With that in mind, if you've got an idea for a character you'd like to see added, now would be the time to let me know, seeing as I'm going to be going nuts with it, and some help would be appreciated. If you've got anything, even if it's just a name and a hair colour, or an elaborate character with a full set of kisekae images to go with it, e-mail me to let me know about it, and I'll see what I can do.

Pudding Earl

Wednesday 2 April 2014

Haaaaa!

Not actually cancelled! Bet I got like, ten of you, maybe, with that one. Yes, it was all an April Fools. And yes, I am aware that it was poor taste. Listen, I make porn games, taste hasn't been a thing on this blog for like...ever.

Anyway, as for why I didn't clarify that it was a joke sooner? I've been busy working. What have I been working on? Not some silly measly update that brings boring things like polish, stability, features. No, no, who needs that? No, what we need is poorly planned, completely untested content!

So here it is, the Andriana fight in it's almost-entirety. Due to technical errors on my end pictures weren't an option. Had to clear my cache at some point, all my pretty character's I'd made got lost. Which I'd re-do happily but...poses are a bitch and I've seriously spent like, hours doing this today when normally I don't and I just am mentally exhausted. Oh yeah, the link, right. Here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ecyhvibtan1c8q2/Shield_High_JS_0.62.zip

So, will we be back to regular updates? Probably not. Will I continue work tomorrow to fix up the fuck ton of issues with this version? Yeah definitely. Like I said, this isn't tested in the slightest, so like, I'll probably release a more stable version in the next two days after I've done my own testing.

Enjoy, and my apologies for any depression/suicidal thoughts/lack of sunshine for my absence and terrible jokes. Next year is a joke release I promise.

An unfortunate announcement

Hey everyone,

So, I've been trying to keep at it and work on Shield High but...it's just not coming to me. As such, I've decided that I won't be developing it anymore. I'm really sorry to everyone who was looking forward to more, but I'm just not feeling the motivation anymore.

Sorry everyone,

Pudding Earl

Wednesday 12 March 2014

An update and also a question

Okay so, not quite fully recovered, but I'm getting a lot better. Just trying to stop spending my nights procrastinating, and start actually working. Speaking of working, I actually have a serious question for you all in regards to a design decision I'm looking at. How much does the combat text matter to you? When I started I intended for it to be the central appeal, but as time went on the heavy content ended up being put elsewhere. Now, I'm not considering removing the combat text or anything, I'm just thinking it might be easier if I didn't write a unique set of entries for every single combat, but instead wrote general entries that got assigned to characters. There'd still be variety, obviously, but it'd be closer to like, 10 variations, instead of the 40 or so I'm probably looking at.

So, would that be a huge problem in your opinion? Or should I go right ahead and cut back on my work load?

Also of note: When I get back to work I plan to just focus on combat entries for a couple weeks and get as much done as possible, so I can run out a lot of content in one go.

Sorry for my absence!

Something resembling a hiatus.

Hey guys, so, a few weeks ago I broke up with my girlfriend (for those keeping track that was the one who inspired the whole game) and as such I've been working a bit haphazardly lately. Well, we just cut contact today. I was hoping she'd sort herself out and we'd get back together and everything would be dandy, but we haven't. We aren't. So, I'm going to be realistic here, and just straight up tell you I'm going to be out of action for a while. Could be a week. Could be months. I don't know. When I'm ready to resume work I'll let you know. I'm lying, I'm just going to start releasing again. If you have any questions, or just wanna talk or something, I'm still gonna be paying attention to the blog, I just won't be doing much work.

I'm really sorry to let you all down like this.

Shield High 0.615 release.

This release is honestly a disappointment to me. I've been trying the past two weeks to make pathing work for me and it just...hasn't. So I decided to relent on it for the time being and release a very, very small update of what I had prior to starting that. Which is to say, stuff as102 asked for. It's not the whole list, but it's what I personally think is the most important thing. Also the timetable update. Thanks for that image it was amazing.

So yeah, there's a log now. It'll only record important events. So far it doesn't record combat, I plan to make a journal feature for that later, so you can look back on what happened in each combat much easier. Talking, room entries other than the base ones and events should all be caught by the log.

If you're looking for content, once again give this one a miss. However I will be looking to include content again very soon as I'm sick to death of pathing. So I'll be fixing up the Andriana fight for the next couple days and trying to get the whole Melanie arc released...soon. This week or next, depending on how long things take.

Sorry for the huge delay my experimenting caused.

More delays!

Okay so I spent like, all week trying to get this new feature to work. And it refused to work. Finally tonight I think I've got a system that won't completely destroy the game, but I haven't tested it yet. So I'm going to take another day or two to fully implement it and make sure it works, and then I'll be making a release.

Luckily that isn't the only reason for it, the other being that my internet is playing up. Specifically my browsers. I don't know what the exact problem is but a large, random assortment of websites aren't loading on most browsers. I'm currently writing this on Internet Explorer. It's almost as bad as it sounds. So yeah, couple days delay.

However while I'm posting this I have a question for you all, if I were to start a second blog focusing on putting up some daily writing or something, not related to Shield High, would anyone be interested in looking at it? If I did something similar, but related to Shield High, with a subscription fee for it would anyone pay for it? Just wondering because as much as I love Shield High, it's not making me any money and circumstances are such that making money is actually a concern for me now.

Sorry for the delays!

Update on lack of update.

So, I've been a bit side-tracked by various personal matters this week, and I just haven't had a chance to work on Shield High as much as I'd like. I've gotten a bit done, primarily I've added in a log button, so you can go back over all the previous entries of importance. Which is to say, everything but the bog standard room entry text. It also will skip combat, but I plan to make a journal to allow you to re-read combat entries at a later date in case you really liked one. That will increase in value when I include saves, and it'll probably also be set up to save sex scenes for you.

Anyway, the goal for next week is to add the Andriana plot. All of it. Half way through combat dialogue, and I'm going to try and grind the rest out in the next couple days, then it'll be a breeze to implement. Also going to look at some other things on the list that As102 gave me in the next couple weeks. Can't guarantee everything will be fixed next week, but I'll do my best.

After Andriana will be another period of preparing a bunch of features, and thus some small updates to test things while I make a proper enslaved system.

Anyway, sorry for no release this week.

Shield High 0.614 release. All goals met and then a little bit more.

So, as promised, weekends should be more polished now, so I'm more or less done with them until I start adding, y'know, content. That thing that the game needs but doesn't have yet. A little peak at the shops is also present, for those of you who are curious as to what terrible puns I've come up with, as well as perhaps a hint at what you'll actually be able to buy. Also, as promised, Angel dialogue has been added. It's not particularly useful, but it has highlighted to me a small issue that needs to be fixed, and likely will be fixed in the coming future.

Next week will be spent pretty much entirely on the NPC Manager, I hope to have something to show for it soon, but a lot of it's benefits won't be visible until much, much later on.

Also, for the first time ever I'm going to swallow my pride and accept help. If you would like to write any dialogue for any of the old fights in the new fight-style, that would be really appreciated, and really help get Shield High caught up to it's old self.

Thanks in advance.

Pudding Earl.

P.S. Yes Raine, you can help too.

P.P.S. If you do want to write dialogue, comment with who you plan to write for, so I no one else writes for the same person. As is Andriana is about 50% done.

Shield High 0.613 Release. Mostly test/demo stuff.

I like being upfront when a release isn't content-driven, and this one isn't. It's got a little content but not a lot yet. The Samantha stuff is implemented in a basic sense, but that's it. It'll have some system ramifications as soon as I work out the NPC manager. But more importantly I've added movies to the weekends. No text on it yet, but all of the movies the game will contain are implemented. So basically, if you want to test that it'd be nice, but I'm not expecting a lot of interest in this update. The next couple updates are going to be largely like this, as I add in the ability to call people on the weekends and stuff. After that I'm going to make a dent in the NPC manager while I add in the week 2 content.

Anyway, next week is going to be weekend refinement and probably going to add in some Angel talking content.

Enjoy, and sorry for the wait!

A Quick Question and an Update on Production

Also a kinda confusing capitalization scheme. Okay, let's start off with the question, I'm angry about stuff on the internet and also games and stuff. Sometimes I'm really happy with games, but that's not all that often. So anyway, I was wondering if I started a generic youtube channel to rant, make points about things, and generally share opinions without clogging up the blog with lots of not-development-related posts, would any of you be interested? Would that be a thing people would like? If not, that's understandable, I probably don't have much new to add to any discussions, but I just thought I would ask before I do something stupid. I should note that at some point or another I will be attempting some youtube content, I'm just wondering if this specifically interests you.

And now for that update. Family is *still* here. Amazingly no one has been murdered. They should be leaving this week, and by the middle of next week I hope to be back on a standard development schedule. Sorry about the recent delay, I'll try to come back with some better ethic.

Thanks for your feedback in advance,

Pudding Earl
