Production resumes.

I just got home from my holiday. So I'm taking another day off maybe because fuck you guys, then it's back to work on Shield High. So yeah. Not sure if next week is getting a release. It all depends how much content I can make in the next few days. But really I've only lost one, maybe two days of my usual development cycle, so there's probably going to be a release.

BRACE YOURSELVES.

Pudding Earl.

Pudding Earl breaks promise. Releases anyway.

Technically it's not that much of a promise break, since I did mention this update would probably happen. Next week's is definitely cancelled however. This week you've got some more dom-line content, the Iris date is fixed, and the Kaylee date should be working too. Should be. I'm a bit forgetful on such things because 20 odd hours on a plane.

Anyway, download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1uh4ybcwtfnhbk5

Okay fine, you can have delays!

So, I'm going on a holiday tomorrow. For Christmas I'm flying to America and enjoying my low ping on League of Legends. Also seeing some sights or something. I dunno. Low ping. That's why I'm going. Anyway, on to the important stuff. Since I'll be overseas staying with a friend, work on Shield High is going to be iffy at best. I'll try and get a release out this week, but I'm not 100% certain I'll manage it. And the week after is even less likely, since it'll be christmas. Week after that...depends on if you get christmas release. If you do, then no release, because new years and shit. If you don't, probably a release.

I really do hate to do this, but it's just not reasonable to put out the content I want to in the time I'll have. I might manage it, but I doubt it.

Apologies again,

Pudding Earl

Monday 10 December 2012

You want delays? Here release fuck you! 0.5 Released.

Yeah that's right. I overcame my Shield High-crippling emotional problems and made a release on time. It almost contains all the promised content too! I couldn't finish Kaylee unfortunately. I planned to do her today, but lack of sleep has prevented such things. Such is life. Instead you have a positively adorable Iris date, and the beginning of the Biker content, complete with two endings, one good and one bad.

Download is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ja9vx1w3a41bri3

So what's next? First off is the main plot for if you're winning. Because winners have been neglected for TOO LONG. Then I have no clue. Some other stuff I guess. Whatever.

Delays. The Woman attacks.

Some of you who frequent my IRC probably know of my, at times, Shield High-crippling emotional problem. For those of you who don't....I have a serious emotional problem involving an ex of mine. Not a story I want to blog about. Point I'm making is I ended up interacting with her for about 24 hours this week. I now am unable to work on Shield High. As such, the features in 0.5 (which will still be released on time) will be less than what I had planned. I should be fine tomorrow, or the day after. I just feel I owe you all an explanation, since I'm taking extra days off this week, and holding myself accountable to you lot is the only way I keep this project going.

New character added: Biker, The Oncoming *SPOILERS*. 0.47 released.

AT LONG LAST I HAVE REACHED 0.47. FUCKING FINALLY. So, what can you expect? WELL! You can expect the last of the Stacy content. This isn't so much new stuff as it is just a re-work of the old Stacy content and the programming of it all so it'll run to the event's conclusion. Also, Iris can now have her hand held. It's a small tidbit, but it's real nice. She also doesn't sleep over at your house EVERY SINGLE FUCKING NIGHT FOREVER. Couple other small fixes have been implimented, and last but not least, a new character is added. A mysterious biker chick that hangs out with Angel. Right now all you can do is be introduced to her. Also, she only shows up some of the time. RANDOM EVENTS YAY!

Next week is some patch-ups to bring the game up to speed in preparation for 0.5

0.465 Released. Pudding Earl tires of serious titles.

Seriously. That's the last one until I get to another serious release. They're boring. Anyway, this week has the first winning state of the Stacy games, and marks the peak of new content for the Stacy arc. Everything from here on will be edits. Next week should be bringing a bunch new games, since production is now easier, as well as the actual programming for being free.

Shield High: Jessica's Story 0.464: The Petening.

The title totally isn't spoilers. I'm lying about that. I'm lying about lying. I'm lying about lying about lying. WHAT NOW PEOPLE? I don't really know why I did that, but anyway. 0.464 is being released, it just has the third day of guessing, BUT THE END IS IN SIGHT! Soon my friends, soon we will reach 0.5. Until then, enjoy some more guessing games.

Delayed Release. Hovering Retcon. Shield High 0.463 available.

The title kinda sums it up. Sorry this release is a little delayed, I had to crash early last night, and couldn't be bothered to rush out a post with bed looming. So anyway, here's the release, it's fairly minor, mostly Stacy plot overhead, since every day will require progressively more outcomes, and thus more tweaks to the previous entries. As for the hovering retcon, I'm thinking of changing how the week functions, so that it's easier on me to make. We shall see. Decision should be made by next week.

Shield High 0.462 release

Say, didn't that Pudding Earl chap promise us some romance this week? I do believe he did. In fact, didn't he also say he was putting off the more important content for it? I'm fairly certain so. Well, it's a jolly good show he's got that romance content ready for us.

Wait. What do you mean that's not the only content this week? Are you trying to tell me the Pudding Earl actually did MORE work than promised? Yes. That's EXACTLY what I'm telling you. So this week we have the Angel/Melanie date that was intended, and then the BEGINNING of some Stacy content. This content is subject to change as I may or may not throw my hands in the air when confronted with how ambitious it is.

Witty opening line. Egotistical comment. Weak excuse for lack of work. Description of what has been included. Promise for next week.

Statement of desire that you will like the game.

P.S. On a serious note, this week was very small, just a date with Melanie at the end of week 5. Next week is more romance. Then Stacy, I promise.

More delays!

Life hates Shield High I think. Just as I'm gearing up to re-enter weekly updates guess what happens? My power cord on my laptop snaps. It now has 30 minutes of battery life left. Period. Luckily, I already have a new laptop en route to me, so it'll be about a weeks delay tops before I'm back to work. So basically, another weeks worth of delays. Joy. Should be back on track after that.

Sorry guys, hopefully this is the last of it.

Pudding Earl not dead. Releases Shield High 0.46

Shield High lives! I've got like, one more week of instability, so expect next week's update to be a bit hit and miss. Mostly miss. Same for this update. However, Andriana content has been done. All the writing is finished, but I will have a little more programming to do as of next week. Then it's on to the Stacy content.

You were expecting slave content? TOO BAD! IT'S ME! IRIS!

What's this? Only ONE day of delays after the Pudding Earl getting kicked out of home? That's dedication right there. That Pudding Earl guy is pretty cool. Maybe you should send him a muffin basket or something. To show how awesome he is.

Okay, enough ego-stroking, down to the serious stuff. As the title suggests, there isn't any slave content this week. Instead you get an adorable Iris date. Next week is slave content, I just needed a short break, and the guy wot sent me money deserves to get his content actually made. Hope you enjoy the adorable and the sexy.

More personal information and boring stuff that isn't lesbians

I figured you all deserve an update on what's going on, since it will affect your Shield High experience. As previously stated, I'm pretty much homeless. Previously I was living with my father, however I doubt that will ever be an option again. I'm currently at my mother's house, however I can really only stay for a week. I intended to move to my grandmother's after that, however that's looking questionable right now. The main issue being that she can't support me, and I won't have an income for the next 6 weeks + while I deal with the public health system.

So this is the bit where I tack on a bit about donations and stuff, because Shield High is the only thing I'm doing the can possibly make me any form of an income. I'm not expecting anything from you guys, but I figure there's no harm in putting it out there, in case some of you both really really love me and have an insane amount of disposable income. What I really need right now is a semi-dependable source of income. Not single time donations, more of a weekly thing. As I said, I'm not expecting anything, but it would be an absolute god-send right now, and help a ton to keep Shield High in production. Also earn you a place in the credits because seriously you'd deserve it. I feel like I can't say it enough that I'm not expecting this to happen, there's no need to feel like you have to do it, I'm just throwing the idea out there in case anyone has the means and desire to help, but didn't know what I'd need.

Back to the point of Shield High production. It will be continuing while I'm in between homes, but releases will be more sporadic, based on if/when I can get good enough internet access, or have enough content, as I will be taking some nights off to focus on actually fixing my situation.

Thanks for being amazing fans,

Pudding Earl

Saturday 29 September 2012

Some personal information

My dear fans, I have some unfortunate news. I've been kicked out of home, essentially. I'm still at home as I write it, however a dear friend of mine is driving over to pick me up as I type, and within an hour I will be away from this place to never return. The reason I tell you this is because it might affect the quality of the content for the next few weeks, as I try and get myself stable. It's unlikely to cause seriously major hiccups, as I have a place to stay for the next week, and I know what I can do beyond that, but all the same, I think it warrants a mention. Also it will have an effect on X-Com, for all like, 10 of you who read it.

So, sorry in advance if the content isn't up to par, now you know why.

Hotfix for Shield High Jessica's Story 0.45

Wednesday is normally my day off. But this week I fucked up so bad I took the time to do a bit of bug-fixing. It's far from a total fix, everything not-Karen related that I broke is still broken. But I fixed up Karen to function hopefully as intended. Danielle should actually work now, and Regan shouldn't fuck up her intro scene.

Here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/?aelc101ffeyi83u

Enjoy!

Pudding Earl

P.S. Okay I found one last bug. It's fixed now, but seriously, fuck re-uploading. Danielle content doesn't work atm. It will work next week. Sorry guys.

Tuesday 25 September 2012

Lies. Possibly Slander too. Release made today.

So it turns out I'm made of tougher stuff than I thought. That is to say, after taking a tablet and then standing under running hot water I'm feeling a lot better. Still have a headache, but there's no desire to throw up. I can work with that. So I polished up the last bit of content for this week's update and here it is. The grand finale to the Karen plot line. Unless I've missed something, it should now be fully operational. Tell me if  missed something.

Download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?d1qcrs0zdr5an0h

Next week will be....things. Might be Andriana work. Probably won't be. It'll probably be Iris work.

Enjoy!

Pudding Earl

EDIT: I'm aware it's pretty buggy. I'll get on fixing it tomorrow and release a hot fix.

Single Day Delay

My apologies, but 0.45 is going to be arriving a day late. This is due to my feeling like death all day and being unable to sit up for anything more than about 20 minutes.

Sorry everyone,

For all three of you who might care, I've started up a second blog. This one dramatizing my attempts to play through X-Com. Very, very, slowly. Unlike Pudding Games however it will get daily updates, and so if you love my writing and can't ever get enough of it, this is the blog for you.

Shield High 0.444: The procrastinated update

So, you might be wondering, why does this update have such little content? Why isn't the Karen plot actually programmed? I mean, sure, we have the content, but why doesn't it FUNCTION? Well, my good friends, as said in the title, I procrastinated! Writing lesbians is hard work, and I just really, really, didn't want to do it. So of course, I procrastinated my heart out. But as they all say, 'procrastination makes perfect.' Or something. Whatever, here's the update:

Shield High 0.443: There's a fight, or something.

Okay, first things first. I AM SORRY. I didn't get Karen done, AGAIN. But...it's started at least. Some jackass decided he had this SUPER SERIOUS FETISH FUEL that needed to be put into my game, and is throwing a huge wad of money at me to do it. Sadly, his fetish is mentally damaged pale girls with black hair. So nothing too kinky sadly. But it does contain a new fight. With no fleshed out ending yet. Sorry about that one too. However, as I said, I have at least started on Karen. She's got a new event for when you're enslaved by her, with the option to obey or disobey. I'm hoping to program both events to have permanent effects, BUT I APOLOGIZE IF I DO NOT. Regardless, next week is Karen first, so you should have all of her core plot-line wrapped up, then we can move on. Hurray!

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?qcqj21pn0qx79m3

Enjoy!

Pudding Earl.

P.S. I scared myself a little with one of the Karen options. Feedback on the obey option would be appreciated. Is it emotive enough you think?

Tuesday 4 September 2012

Shield High 0.442: Alison and Lucy. Forever.

Guess what's in THIS update. Did you guess almost all of the Alison and Lucy content? You'd be right. Also there's a request. Part of which was to keep the actual content of it a secret. For those of you who find it, enjoy. Anyway, there's about 6 new scenes this week, if my shoddy count is anything to go off. All but one of them about Alison and Lucy. That was sooooo fun. There's only one last Alison/Lucy scene to be written however, then they'll be complete. So expect that next week. Also to be expected next week is actual content for the Karen plot. I have it at least partly planned out, so I should be able to make the plot finished by the end of next week, for all functional purposes. Like all plots, it will be a bit content-light upon completion, but that'll be fixed up the week after.

Anyway, download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?a638kee464hs68v

Hope you all enjoy it! I look forward to hearing some feedback.

Earl's Musings: Forever Ero. Forevero.

It's been a long time since I've had some musings. Mostly because I haven't done any other games developing recently. But with the way Shield High's been going lately I've got some stuff to throw out there. I feel like I've been writing ero scenes forever. The last time the majority of the content wasn't ero was during the Elizabeth fight update. And before that I honestly can't remember. Which is mostly my fault I suppose. I should've just written this content ages ago and split up the work that had to be done. The other part of the problem is that even after I write up all this ero, I've got to do three plots worth of ero. And enslaved plots don't have much in the way of non-ero content.

So basically what I'm saying is I'll be stucking writing ero until about 0.47, or there abouts. Luckily, after all this I'll be doing an ero-light plot. My apologies to those of you who don't want more plot, but it's necessary. For both my sanity, and for the plot to have an appropriate level of drama when it reaches it's conclusion.

That's pretty much all I have to say. But I don't know how to really bring this to a good conclusion. So uh...I suppose I just wanted to vent. And write about myself again for once. Unrelated note: I should go and update the guide. I'll go do that now.

Requests and Something beginning with R to do with lesbians. Raunchiness. That'll do. New Release.

Shield High's new update is released today. Bring on 0.441. I aimed to do all of the Lucy fucking and all of the Alison fucking. But then some jack-ass decided to give me money and ask me to do actual, focused, paid work. Who does that? This guy, obviously. Thank you! So instead you get delicious Angel/Melanie dating instead. To unlock it you need to date Melanie as normal, and talk to Angel like you would to get her help, and thus date her. Then anytime after dating Melanie just go see Angel and...BOOM! Date. It's a bit sketchy at the moment, so it'll probably get some writing polish one day.

Anyway, download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?vqro6morn7qgnz5

Hope you all enjoy what little content there is. Next week will finish off the Alison and Lucy payments entirely and maybe start on the next plot. Unless more people want to give me money or something. That'd be nice. Shield High costs me money to work on y'know. Not much though but still...

Okay yes, I'm just complaining. Enjoy the update.

Pudding Earl

P.S. You got a hotfix. Enjoy.

Saturday 25 August 2012

Change of plans: Update on Shield High's content for this week.

So, this week is a first for me. I finally received a donation, and with it a request. Naturally, the request takes priority over previously planned content, so you will be getting less of the Lucy and Alison fucking. I will still try and get at least Lucy fully functional, and maybe Alison. But the focus will be on an Angel-Melanie cross-over romance. Once the initial date is implimented content will resume it's usual update pace until it's time for a total romance update.

Promises: Delivared! 0.44 arrives at last.

That's right. I spent most of this week looking at the game and asking "What actually needs doing?" The answer was "Not much." Not to deliver on my promises of 0.44. So here it is, Elizabeth almost completely polished up, full date for Angel and Jillian, and the beginnings of the best testing feature ever. There's really not a lot to say this week. I didn't get too much done as I was busy with another project that needed my attention. So anyway, here's the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?3ydtezf68lxq7bq

And now for 0.45 I am slating finalisation as the finishing of Karen's plot, an the addition of fucking Alison and/or Lucy. Once that's done, 0.45 will be released, and we can move on to the glorious remaining two plot.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Pudding Earl

Tuesday 14 August 2012

So close, yet so far. 0.432 released. 0.44 promised for next week. Disappointment included.

As the title says, I've completed 0.432. Included is the beginning of the plot if you're enslaved by Karen, which promises a sexy, sexy ending. Which you'll get next week. And half the date with Jillian and Angel. The submissive half. If you wanna joint dom, you'll have to wait until next week. Also I've done a bit of bug fixing. All fights SHOULD give requisition now. If they don't, let me know so I can fix it. This means the requisition total in the game is significantly higher. You might be able to find those few Karen scenes I've done for items. Some bugs still remain, of course, so hit me up with anything you find.

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?afzdca4b5zk6z2i

Also important to note is RAGS updated this week. You might need to update to play the game. I'm not 100% sure on that. Now, about next week. Next week I plan to have the Angel/Jillian date completely finished, and do some more on the plots of being enslaved. In an ideal world I'll make 0.44. Sadly I also have a meeting demanding my attention, so I may not make the goal. Just letting you all know.

Enjoy

Tuesday 7 August 2012

Knights, new plan! Pudding Earl revises release coding. With new release.

Well. I didn't finish half of my promises, with only Jillian being more fuckable. However I introduced a new numbering scheme. Since the later updates require a lot more work, with more spanning plot trees and content to fill, I've decided to instead announce the goals of each update, ala 0.44 being Jillian and Angel dates, fixed Elizabeth, and start of new plot, then I'll just release what I get around to each week, with this being 0.431, next week .432 until we hit the stuff needed for .44. Glad we got that sorted.

Now, for the update, as I said, all I did was a Jillian date, as well as some sneaky book keeping. Also a bunch of bug-fixing which will HOPEFULLY resolve some issues some of you are having. Download link is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?d5z80s2j7rq25hf

First on next weeks agenda is getting Elizabeth fights fixed up, followed by either the date with Angel and Jillian, or more slave functionality. WHO KNOWS.

Unexpected turn of events: Pudding Earl listens to fans.

Woah. What? The Pudding Earl LISTENED to his fans? And he DIDN'T want money for it? What the hell is up with that? I'll tell you what's up with that! Lots of you asked for the same thing. That's what. And so it was, that Pudding Games has received new features. Namely a feature list and a walkthrough. The walkthrough is, of course, rather bare bones, to allow you to enjoy the content in game, but it covers how to game overs, and how to romance. More info pages will be coming through out the week.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! Shield High is also updating to 0.43. You can now fight Elizabeth and stuff. Probably. It was a race to get the content together, so there's probably a bug in there somewhere. And I'm willing to bet it's on the trigger. Actually, off the top of my head I can think of one right now. Elizabeth will be infinitely fight-able. That will of course be fixed next week.

Download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?iub6s2brbg9936j

Also coming next week is the romance, a bit more polish for Elizabeth, obviously, and then an enslaved plot. I have no idea which one yet, as I have no idea what the plot will be. But I'll work something out. Enjoy.

I WORKED IT OUT! Shield High updates...again.

The ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. I finally worked it out. The question is of course "How do we know Pudding Earl loves us?" The answer was supposed to be 42. I think they missed a dot somewhere though. As the REAL answer is .42. Or 0.42. Or Shield High: Jessica's Story 0.42. But what does 0.42 tell us? It tells us that Pudding Earl, is willing to forgo his sleep to solve a few complaints made by a single dedicated fan. And so here I present to you all, the new, 0.42, with the glitches fixed, as best as I can tell. I didn't have time to run more than one test, so something might still be broken. But I hope not. So, here you go:

P.S. This is my 42nd post. Fancy that.

Shield High Jessica's Story: 0.42 releases. Pudding Earl on skype again.

I apologize for being distracted once more, but my friend is a WHINEY BITCH and complained that I wasn't on skype with him when I did a post about Shield High. So I'm on skype to him posting about Shield High. And on I go to talking about Shield High. 0.42 is being released, and it contains...PLOT! No ero though because I got lazy and couldn't do all I wanted to. But the week 6 plot has begun. Next week will be bringing the ero. The Jillian/Angel/plot ero. This week is just the ground work, containing SERIOUS CHOICES!

Anyway, here's your download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?iqb6ap9b4ja4au6

I did some testing. I must say, I'm an amazing game developer. Even I enjoyed playing it. Anyway, next week as I said will be ALL OF THE ERO for this week. I will in fact be finishing the free girl plot line. Then there's just three more to go for all of you who enjoy being someone's bitch. Aren't I good to you, my faithful fans?

Enjoy!

Shield High 0.41. Skype stops me from making a witty title.

I'm currently in a skype call about to play SC2, so my ability to be witty, or even well focused is kind of lacking. So instead I'll keep this brief. Shield High hits 0.41, barely misses goals. I was planning to start off the week 6 plot. But I didn't. That's now officially slated for next week. This week I let you all fuck Kaylee and take Brandi to the movies. YOU'RE WELCOME, PEOPLE WHO LIKE BRANDI OR KAYLEE. WHICH SHOULD BE EVERYONE. CAUSE THEY'RE AWESOME.

Blame Starayo for my odd typing. He ruins all the things. As those of you who IRC with me will know. Those who don't, don't know who Starayo is. He's a faggot. If you were wondering. And yes, I'm just writing this section so I can call him a faggot in public on my blog. Because it's funny.

ANYWAY. Next week is start of all the week 6 plots. All four of them. PREPARE TO BE IMPRESSED AT MY PLOT TWISTING WAYS. This is what happens when I skype.

Shield High: Where I'm at. Also some other news.

Okay so in case you all didn't notice, somehow, 0.3X was BAD. I was just all over the place, didn't add much good content, and spent a few weeks just fluffing about. I'm sorry for that, and so I'm making this post to let you all know a bit about how Shield High is coming. I just finished writing up the intro to some more romance, and I really only have one thing going on in my mind.

"God I missed working on actual content." So what does that mean? It means my break worked, I missed writing more of the plot. So expect the next few weeks to be some high quality stuff. Or a lot of it. Or both. Lots of content is a bit unlikely, but it might happen, I am enjoying it enough. And my studies are in a slow period. I suppose what I'm just saying is, I'm not burnt out, I'm still going, and everything is looking pretty good now. I'll also try and update slaves a bit so they actually do stuff. That'll be a slow process though.

OTHER NEWS! I may have said a while ago that I moved, and my net was better. And that I intended to use that to stream. I don't remember. Point is this week I'm going to start getting that worked out and attempt to run a stream of some sort. I'm not expecting a lot of people to watch, but still, it's there. So if you're curious as to what I'm like when I'm just chilling, keep posted for that. I might also do some work on the streams, I dunno. When I'm streaming I'll take votes from time to time.

MORE NEWS? Just doing Shield High is a bit boring. As such, starting next week I will be working on a few small RPG systems. I don't expect you to use them, it's more just me wanting to release something. If you DO use them, send me an e-mail so I can feel like I've accomplished something. I've also got a second Shield High-related project planned, which I'm trying to build the motivation to do.

As always, come chill with me in my IRC, it's always good to meet fans. And Imouto1, that name is both mildly disturbing and rather adorable. Thanks for the visit. You should come back and hang out.

Polish and not much else. Shield High hits 0.4

There's probably still glitches, just so you know. But I'm fairly certain I've tackled the major problems. That is, Melanie not working after you beat her, and when you lose during week 5 not having anything to do with your Mistress. These are now fixed, with punishments and daily chores being a function that's working as intended. Descriptions are almost complete, only Madison and Mitzi remain undescribed. Mitzi will remain that way for a while longer since she has no content. Sooner or later that'll be fixed. Madison will be described soon enough.

Download link here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1rbznv4shgzp70z

And now for the update on what the 0.4X series will contain. This week I'm adding three more romance openings, and then the actual plots of week 6. They'll just be intros, but it'll be a teaser of what's to come. Following this will be more plot updates, and more romance interactivity, as well as a bit less ero in your romance. Not to say I'm cutting it completely, I just want to explore the characters a bit more. Somewhere in this plan I'll be doing more slave scenes, so you can get laid on demand.

Final point of order, reminders of other Pudding Games things:
1. I have an IRC channel. Come check it out. The info is a few posts down, and will probably be on the side bar soon enough. Be awesome if you could come hang out, tell me about how much I suck at bug fixing, that kind of thing.
2. I have a commissions scheme set up. Throw some money at me to support my work, receive delicious lesbian requests. Everybody wins! Details are also in the archives somewhere. Or you could just e-mail me asking about it.

That's all for now, hope you guys enjoy, and I apologize for 0.3X being a bit of a let down, but I seriously needed to get that stuff fixed up.

Shield High: Jessica's Story releases 0.331. Pudding Earl flounders for excuse.

This was GOING to be 0.34. But at the last minute I decided "Man, it doesn't deserve it." So I changed it. Anyway, this is bringing a feature I never actually intended to include, but then changed my mind for this update. It's bringing....DESCRIPTIONS! You can now hit examine on about 50% of the girls, and find out WHAT THE FUCK THEY LOOK LIKE. I'd originally planned to get art, so that wouldn't be needed. Then I planned to leave it to your imagination, so it wasn't necessary. Then I decided "This is going to be problematic. I'll just add descriptions." So here they are, descriptions. Also I did some bug fixing so losing to Stacy should function a bit better.

Download is here, if you really think it's worth it: http://www.mediafire.com/?3jhs346t4m279e6
Please note: Descriptions are haaaaard. That's why only half are done. Also I started studying last week, which consumed lots of free time. And I had to travel. For once Starcraft isn't the main cause for my poor performance lately. But next week it will start getting better.

Why will it start getting better? Cause 0.3X has been the update of polishing, a dull thing which I hate doing. But I think I've polished enough. So next week will be 0.motherfucking4. Okay I lie. It's just 0.4. Point is the plot will be resuming, all four of them. And romance subplots will be picking up. And just lesbians in general will be happening. This actually heralds a new section of Shield High. Thus far plots have been a bit variable based on what happened before, but not entirely. 0.4X is going to be a long process, because this changes. Who your Mistress is, if you even have one, will change the plot dramatically, and will result in more off-shoot plots springing up. It will probably all collide back into the same general direction, or there will be overlap, as I tend to make big promises I can't keep, but there's really no other way to do this, so I thought I'd let you all know.

Hope you all enjoy it, come chill on my IRC, I'm lonely. And Heartless, Manoany. I saw you on my channel. DON'T DENY IT!

Playtests? What are those? 0.33 releases.

Yeah so, it turns out I'm kind of burnt out on writing content. BUT I DID IT ANYWAY SO FUCK YOU! Also turns out studying, making a game, and trying to play Starcraft don't mesh too well together. Something about all of my time being taken up. Oh, and play in roleplaying games. That one also takes up time. Like that dick who I run VtM for. But ranting aside, Shield High 0.33 is now being released as originally intended, and the next week will be an ERO FREE UPDATE. Mostly so I can do some writing without having to think of new ways for girls to fuck. That shit is HARD.

Anyway, here's the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?wngo1odi4856xyw

And a quick reminder I have an IRC channel at #PuddingGames on Rizon. Once I get over the initial adjustment of starting up study, and dealing with womenfolk and their indecisive ways I'll be finally looking into branching out Shield High, so stay tuned for that, and come visit in the IRC to get some actual, y'know, insight, into what the hell I'm doing.

Hope you guys enjoy, and I look forward to chatting with you maybe.

See? I told you there'd be news!

And I wasn't lying! That's rather surprising. Okay so, the long and short of it is I've finally gotten around to moving into a house with good internet. This means I can remain connected 24/7 and be almost constantly available except for when sleeping or doing other human things. What does this mean for Pudding Games? I'll tell you what it DOESN'T mean. It doesn't mean your getting super fast Shield High updates. I'm actually a bit burnt out on the porn writing honestly, but I'm sticking at it, and once I get over this little hump I'll be back to my usual pace. No, what it does mean is that I've gotten around to actually commandeering an IRC channel for use of finding me and telling me about every stupid little mistake I've made, or asking me questions about the story, or pestering me to include a request for free, or whatever it is you like to do.

Anyway, channel details are as follows, it's on the Rizon server #PuddingGames, hope to see you guys there. And now for the second part of that news. With the move means I'm sitting on a hotspot for connection speed, which means me streaming isn't all that impossible now. I haven't looked into that yet though cause it's late and I want to pass out but I can't because I have annoying girl problems to solve, but I plan to do so tomorrow, so the news in regards to that will be posted here when I've got it all worked out. Also this new set up means more privacy for me, and being more in touch with the fans means I might be able to make a second game which you guys want to see. Not sure, we'll see what happens eh?

So hit me up in that channel, hope to see you guys and actually get some conversation going!

Dark Days for Shield High: 0.321 released.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WHAT? 0.321? That can't be right! Wasn't this update meant to be 0.33? Yes. It was. But you see, I had a VERY busy weekend. The only convention I go to all year was on this weekend, so in between that, playing starcraft, playing LoL, recovering from that, and dealing with a few personal issues, I didn't have time to include all the promised features of 0.33. So I compromised, and released 0.321 instead. 0.321 basically makes Stacy-related slavery work, so if you're not super interested in that content, I'd just say give this update a miss. Which is shocking for me, because I'm narcissistic and obsess over my downloads, but for once I can admit I haven't done enough for it to be worth it. Now, NEXT week on the other hand, I've only got some moving to do, which is nothing, so expect a decent sized update, the results of being Andriana's slave, a bit more polish, and some more dialogue options to help bring the game to life even more.

Anyway, download link, in case you want it: http://www.mediafire.com/?6ok3p8fova4c33g

And check back on sayyyy friday-saturday my time, as I have some news about THE FUTURE of Pudding Games. It's not a huge deal, but it's a step up.

Slavery: It has features now. 0.32 released

So yeah, I put together 0.32 this week, all full of slave-y goodness. Now you can be owned by Karen and have actual slave-things happen to you. Stacy and Andriana as Mistresses is planned for 0.33. There's not a lot going on here, but I had to do a lot of re-programming for it to make all the systems work. Stacy and Andriana will be faster to produce. Also I did a lot of cleaning. So characters now move around when they should. No more Andriana enslaving Melanie and then spending the rest of time in the centre of the schoolyard. Also, NEW CLASSROOMS! And the school's a bit easier to navigate class to class.

Download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?f65gcazvaiep1us

As always, I hope you enjoy, as I really have nothing more to add.

That time of the update schedule.

This happens every month I'm sure. I sit down to write the update, and I stare at the content blankly not sure what to write. This is what happens when I'm not doing a plot. This is why so many features are missing. Because I honestly do not know what to write about in half of them. So what happens when I reach that time of the update schedule? The bit before I hint at the next plot, but after I've done all the work on the one before? Well, I polish, that's what. Which is what I'm doing this week. There's a bit of content, sure, sometimes I get caught by a mood and write something. I'd like to see all of being enslaved by Karen done this week. But most of it's minor stuff, fixing little errors, or just adding depth. Like how the centre of the schoolyard is now cleaned up post-fight every week. Or how a few Joyce bugs have been fixed. It's small things, but I think they make Shield High an over-all nicer game to play. Text-games have the easiest to spot problems, and so fixing them up should be a high priority. Sadly it's not, because I hate trouble shooting. But boredom does strange things.

Anyway, that's my little bit of news on 0.32. My apologies it won't have the content it should, I'm trying to get motivated to include a bunch more stuff, so we'll see what happens.

Underwhelming release: Shield High 0.31 released

And, as always, it's not a huge change from Shield High 0.3. It does however contain an abnormally high number of bug fixes though, as one of my testers complained a lot, and I did some testing of my own, which lead to even more bug fixing. Also I didn't get around to accomplishing everything I set out to do. Writing lesbian sex all week is haaaard, so all I managed was the ending of Stacy's fight, and a re-do of the ending of the fight with Karen, so it's more than just a teaser.

Download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?w12bu63kbsd2jjj

First on the agenda for next week is patching up the whole enslaved thing, so that it starts to have some features. Also some more bug fixing. If I get time I'll do some more dialogue options too. We're in the boring cleaning phase where I make things a LOT more stable, and don't do anything of serious merit. Oh well, these things take time I suppose.

Hope you all enjoy playing, and are looking forward to next week's release.

Slumber parties and strip-fights: 0.3 is here

Shield High: Jessica's Story is now on version 0.3. I'd write something about it, but I'm tired of writing because I just got finished with the last fight. So here's a list of stuff that it's boasting:
-Week 5 FINISHED (kind of). All three fights of Week 5 are programmed and written.
-The fight with Stacy I teased about so long ago is now a thing. And it's a master-piece, if I do say so myself.
-There's some other stuff in there that was writing related, but I don't remember details. Most of it was character development or plot-related.

So yeah, I should warn you that post-Stacy fight doesn't yet have it's night of delicious lesbian rape. And the being enslaved thing STILL isn't programmed. But guess what 0.31 is gonna have. Did you guess those two things I just mentioned? Good, you have realized I'm not a clever man, and can't ask trick questions. The night of rape comes first, then content for being a slave.

Oh right, download link, that's a thing, that you need. Here it is!

Enjoy, and as always I love feedback!

Earl's Musings: Shield High Continuity

There's something about Shield High continuity that bugs me. Probably that I haven't yet fleshed it out, and I'm not sure how many girls the school can handle, how many would be too much for the whole slave-economy thing they've got going, and what the exact ratios of slaves to owners is. Which is I suppose why I'm writing this right now instead of doing the work that I really should be doing because I honestly don't have the time to procrastinate. But I'm procrastinating anyway. It'll be fine. On to the topic.

Point is, I'm going to fix that. After 0.3 I'm going to hash out numbers. I know I want about 100 girls in each year, though I doubt those numbers will work. I also know that I want a very large slave population, most of which will be owned by the third years. There's ages to consider too, HOW OLD IS EVERYONE? I'm leaning on 16-18 for the most part, but I'll have to give that some more thought too. TOO MUCH IS UNCERTAIN. THIS IS THE PROBLEM.

Well, one of the problems. The other problem is that everyone's play through of Shield High will be different, as those of you who have peered into the depths know, Shield High already has a lot of story variance. It's possible to play the first two weeks without a single fight. It might be possible to do the same in Week 5 too, but that won't be until after 0.3 because TOO MUCH WORK TO DO. This means keeping track of what's happened is hard. Did you know Week 4 has 6 different opening dialogues? Most of them only change like, four words, to say what happened differently, but still. So when some characters are introduced to only some plots, if I want to use them later I have to work out if they've been introduced or not. It's...complicated. That isn't to say I'm going to stop doing it. Just that I want to complain about it. Loudly. For a long time.

Okay, I'm done complaining now. Hope you got some insight into my priorities or something here.

HA HA! TIME FOR UPDATES!

For some reason that meme has been in my head all week. If you could see the names of variables you could see what I've done this week. Luckily you don't have to, because I'm listing it all right here. Shield High: Jessica's Story has gained the following features in 0.25:
-HA HA! TIME FOR THREESOMES! That's right. There's a threesome. It's pretty good, if I say so myself.
-HA HA! TIME FOR NOT-THREESOMES! There's also a date scene which I think is actually kinda cute. It ends in lesbians. Like always.
-WHY DID I THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA? The most elaborate and hastily written fight in Shield High history. This one is also against Karen. Except glitches related to it, as I kinda had to rush it out.
-Maybe I did some more polish on the crop fight. I don't remember. Did it have an ending last time? If it didn't it does now.
Now for that thing you've all been waiting for...THE DOWNLOAD LINK:
http://www.mediafire.com/?rgx5c5uoyrhfj35
Download there, use RAGS, you know the drill by now.

Now, in regards to 0.3. Yes, it will be next week. The goal for it is to make another fight scene, and then polish up the rest of the plot for week 5 so that it all flows together nicely and doesn't have any gaps. Post-loss playing isn't a priority, so while losing to Andriana this week will allow you to keep playing, there might not be any content for it for a few weeks to come. After 0.3 I'll be taking a few weeks to catch up some minor features, mainly slaves and interacting with them. That's the priority after this plot.

Hope you all enjoy it, and look forward to next weeks big release!

Pudding Earl.

P.S. Man, I've hyped up 0.3 so much now it's sure to end in disappointment. Go me!

Tuesday 15 May 2012

Shield High: Jessica's Story reaches 0.24

And brings with it the plot! This update felt big when I was writing it. When I reviewed it, it seemed a lot smaller. It sets the scene for the plot, gives you a run-down of what's happening, and honestly, it ups the ante a fair bit. This is the plot that ties up the first act, and prepares Jessica's Story to get a lot more intense. Now that I've hyped it up more than I can possibly live up to, I'll give a quick run-down of what's in it:
-Story-related scenes.
-More relationship and ero scenes
-A new fight type, and a new fight that uses it.

Sounds like crap all, but trust me, it's a lot more than it sounds. 0.25 will be bringing the rest of the plot. 0.3 should be released after, to wrap it all up. So, download link can be found here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?4b8v0hqz2dbplc3

And as always I hope you enjoy, and a small reminder that there's a request feature for if you want a specific fetish to appear, or just more content in a general direction.

Earl's Musings: Making Shield High

My thought process right now: This has gotten too easy.

I'm doing work on the third plot of Shield High, and despite it being a practical cluster fuck and three plots in one, the work load seems way, way too simple. It's all the exact same stuff I was going before, maybe a bit stream-lined now, but it seems way too easy. I'm really not sure what this says about the situation. Am I missing something? Or maybe I've just gotten really good at this now. Point is, in a good day of work, I can make a TON of progress now. Which I couldn't do before. It's strange. Now I just have to stop being tired every time I consider doing work, and I should have an entire plot done in no time flat. Expect the first half of the plot to be functional by 0.24, and by 0.25 you'll probably have a fully working plot. Which is weird, cause I thought it'd take a lot longer, but now that I'm actually stuck in, the project is seeming a lot less daunting.

There really wasn't a lot to say on this point honestly, I just felt like sharing that Shield High is easy to work on now, should be seeing more programming done per update, though I wouldn't expect a lot more content per update, as there's only so much of that I can do per week before I mentally exhaust myself. In conclusion, get excited, cause Shield High is going to be shaping up mechanically much, much faster than I had previously anticipated. And once the mechanics are done, it's just a matter of filling the gaps.

Hope you're all doing awesome, more news in the coming weeks.

Shield High: Jessica's Story receives update.

Feels like FOREVER since I've posted an update. With last weeks being released early my whole schedule is outta wack. But here we have it, Shield High: Jessica's Story, version 0.23. What's inside? Here, have a list:
-Night after with Angel actually works now. It's like the content got updated for this patch. Makes the whole thing seem bigger.
-Night after with Melanie written and added. It's a damn fine piece of work, if I do say so myself.
-School has undergone renovations. Expect more in the future.
-Added Tamara, a potential fling. Ero on demand is now a thing.
-Added Mitzi, a future potential fling. Ran out of steam for fling writing.
-Added Jen, your sister. She has a small scene, and will provide you with political advice in future patches.

That list is actually pretty impressive I think. In practice, it's no where near as impressive. But no big deal. Here's the download link before I forget: http://www.mediafire.com/?zeacof5p9966id2

So anyway, 0.24, what's planned? Plot's planned, that's what. What kinda plot? The kind that spans all the way through to 0.3, and then on to 0.4. This plot is gonna be huge. Mostly because it's the staging ground, for something big. And it'll all be dependent on your choices previously. It'll be like 4 plots for the price of one. This plot is mostly being done because writing new and interesting flings is hard work. So I'm waiting on requests. Which a small reminder, you can make a request by making a donation, details are like, two posts down, and it's not all that expensive, I don't think, and it's a fantastic way to show your support, and build up my motivation to work, and make bigger updates for you guys.

So, as always, hope you're all enjoying the game. If you are, send me some lovely fan mail, because that always makes my day.

Donations and Requests: ALL ABOARD THE GUILT TRAIN!

That guilt train part refers to me, not you. Being perfectly honest, I'm really not happy to be doing this now. It's been on the agenda, sure, but I was hoping to wait until I had a lot more polish before I started asking for donations. Alas life has a nasty habit of not letting you do what you want, so here I find myself now, announcing the sparkly new Shield High Content Request System (Which Might Include Giving Me Money) or the SHCRS (WMIGMM) as I like to call it. I'm really not good at naming shit. Anyway, details below:

The SHCRS (WMIGMM) is simple. You donate an amount of money, and then send me an e-mail requesting the appropriate level of content corresponding to the amount you sent. Or less than that. Or you don't e-mail period cause you just want me to know you care. Whatever works. So, here's what your money gets you:

$10-A single scene. Basically, you can request a single sex scene to be included in the future. So long as it doesn't blow out of proportion, I'll add it as best I can. Your details can vary from "I'd like to see Sasha and Kaylee fuck" to "I'd like to see Jessica sleep with a girl who has green eyes, black hair which she wears in pigtails, and has a scottish accent, while the two of them listen to "Hakuna Matata" and watch a TV show about unicorns." Why you'd want that, I don't know, but I'd do it. Somehow. Obviously limits apply here, if it's not something that can possibly happen in Shield High, it's not going in. If you're uncertain about it, e-mail me and check before donating.

$25-An NPC's worth of scenes. With this amount you can request a specific NPC be created, you can detail as many of their traits as you like, and if you find my interpretation of them to be lacking, you can request that I change it to fit. Short of blatant theft of copywritten characters, I'll include almost anything that works. Coupled with this is the ability to request up to three sex scenes with the character. Same rules as above, the request may be as simple, or as detailed as you like, and I'll try my best to ensure it happens.

$50-A recurring NPC's worth of scenes. Basically, you can either request a slave, and all the appropriate punishments and rewards this includes (which will take time to impliment, sorry about that) or you may have a character with a sub-plot included. While no example exists at the time of writing this, 0.23 will include scenes with both Angel and Melanie that demonstrate it perfectly. Basically, you can request the flavor or theme of a few long scenes, as well as character-developing dialogue. Please note the NPCs requested here are NOT romance options, like Angel and Melanie (spoilers!)

$100-A whole plot. Basically, you pick the bad guy, you pick the problem, you pick the love interest, you pick the general outcomes. This can range in detail from a Karen-like plot, that's a straight up fight and a bunch of sex scenes, to a Melanie-like plot, with a bunch of different endings, and various scenes scattered through-out. Or you can request a romance plot, which will span the whole game, and include 3-4 long sex scenes.

And that's it. If any of these interest you, or you just love me, you can donate to my paypal account, for now, I'm working on getting a more permanent solution, as well as a fancy. My account is: n.naylor@live.com. Donate there and include a small note that it's part of the SHCRS (WMIGMM) and I'll look out for the e-mail to follow immediatly.

Once again, I hate doing this, but things aren't looking the best for me, and many of you have shown your love so far, so hopefully this won't tarnish my image too much.

Pudding Earl breaks ancient covenant. Elder gods unleashed on world. Shield High updates early.

The skies turn dark. Six children cry in unison. A wolf speaks with the voice of a man. Blood runs through the gutters. Glitches are fixed.

Wait, what was that last one? Glitches fixed? Okay, now I know this is bullshit. BUT IT ISN'T! You have sent me various e-mails, pointing out all my many failings, and I have listened. I combed through the game and hunted down as many bugs as I could. I've played through it a few times myself, trying to spot things I've missed. I'm fairly certain I've found them all now. So naturally, expect a whole bunch of new bugs in the parts of the game I forgot existed.

As well as bug fixing, and early releasing, this whole update was focused on dialogue with Kaylee and Sasha. I considered adding a new NPC as well, but I decided that would ruin the whole "Kaylee and Sasha" edition I had going. So instead you get an early release. Partly because I feel bad making you wait for the bug fixes. This means the next release won't be on schedule either, but should be coming out a day or two after, and will be containing MAXIMUM ERO.

Yes, next week is fling week, the week in which I make a whole bunch of random NPCs to flirt with, and occasionally have a fling with. Enjoy.

Anyway, here's the download:
http://www.mediafire.com/?7e6duic393b72gu

And a quick thank you to all you fine folks who e-mailed me telling me about broken shit, and how much you love the game. It makes my day to be woken up by your e-mails. That wasn't sarcasm, even though it probably could've been taken as such.

Hope you all enjoy the update!

Earl's Musings: Game Balance

Despite my habit of writing copious amounts of ero-material, I actually put more emphasis on game design than I do anything else. Shield High is more of a hobby project. A way for me to flex my muscles and get some practical design work done, and generally work out what the hell I'm doing. I've got another project open which I spend about just as much time thinking about, and I keep focusing on one very important point to it, as well as future projects. Game balance. Doesn't seem all that important, but it really, really is, even to Shield High.

However, Shield High is an example of an imbalanced game. Not that it matters, it's single-player, and more about the story, so giving the player some advantages, like first action every fight, doesn't really matter. The game so far has 5 fights, which I have to rank the fight against Andriana as the greatest show of imbalanced. The player has only a 10% chance of escape if they use the wrong escape method. And that's really damn likely. Despite this, the rest of the fight is fairly easy, so it balances out to make the fight a race against chance, can you strip Andriana before inevitability catches up. The fight with Melanie is also ridiculously imbalanced, though this time in the players favor. When I first tested what happens when you lost, I had to try really hard to lose. It was pathetic. But none of this matters, because it's mostly about the story. It's not as though an unfair advantage either way hurts the game.

Which is where I get to points of when it DOES hurt the game. The other project I'm working on is a card game (oh hey look spoilers) and the balance there is VERY important. So I end up spending a lot of my time thinking about it, musing over what cards will see more play, and nerfing them so they no longer have their stand-out power, then checking what will never see play, buffing that, and so on. It's an interesting exercise, and one I'm learning a lot from. However, it's not an exercise I would recommend, as it leads me to over-analyse other games. Games which I could enjoy, if only I couldn't notice that certain parts of it are so clearly imbalanced. It's rather depressing truthfully, to see how many people can't seem to balance, or don't understand what to balance. A balanced game doesn't just factor in the pure numbers, and make certain everyone achieves the same result there, but also the utility, the game environment, and everything like that. And that's where modern games fail it seems. Numbers balance out, but utility and environment get horrifically imbalanced, and it leads to crap games.

So, what am I trying to say here? Nothing much really, I'm just complaining, or musing, as it were. I went off on a tangent somewhere along the line, as I'm certain I had an entirely different point when I started, but these aren't exactly meant to be top-tier articles, just an insight into what I'm thinking or doing. I suppose the insight you should glean from this is that I have a big stick up my ass about game balance, and you can be almost certain that any games I release will be focusing on it heavily. That's a pretty good point to make, so I'll pretend that was the original intention.

Sorry this went on too long, hope you at least found my musings worth the time, if not interesting, informative, or just enjoyable.

So, I dun goofed in the Karen fight. Applied a hot-fix to 0.21, which has been updated, as you can see in the post about 0.21. However, if you use RSS, you won't see that. So I'm making this post specifically for you, so that you can have a no-longer-faulty copy of Shield High.

Enjoy

Shield High 0.21: Angel and Joyce edition

As is to be expected, 0.21 is a small update. Following suit from 0.11, which introduced Joyce and Angel, 0.21 is all about them. So if you ended the up using Angel to gain leverage over Andriana, rejoice, for the fruits of your labour have been written. It was a lot of hard work (hehe), given that I have a limited attention span for writing, so I had to do the whole thing in small sessions. Also Joyce is no longer just useful against Karen, she'll provide information on every NPC encountered thus far. Naturally, when 0.23 introduces a bunch of new NPCs that'll be ruined but whatever.

Download link here: http://www.mediafire.com/?j2myjvg53kzv3k9

And since I already have plans for it, I'll give a bit of insight into 0.22. It'll be the Kaylee and Sasha edition. They'll have full dialogue for the entire story thus far, as well as the ability to pursue random tangents, and learn more about them as people. So basically, no ero next week. Because I'm a terrible ero-game writer. I promise I'll make it up to you the week after though!

Hope you all enjoy 0.21!

Pudding Earl

P.S. Released a hotfix on 0.21. If you downloaded it before reading this addition, you're Karen fight is broken. Now it is fixed.

P.P.S. I am bad at hot-fixing. Luckily I have very dedicated fans who e-mail me about my many numerous shortcomings. All glitches are now fixed. On the plus side, I have become very proficient in working out my mistakes.

Awkward Discoveries

I was fixing up 0.21, applying the final coat of polish, making sure all my fancy little switches work, when I noticed something. I had completely neglected a story-line in 0.2. Oops. Turns out if you get Melanie to submit to you as a slave and not as a protectee there's not an actual difference in the dialogue. And there should be. This...this needs to be fixed. So, in one of the next updates you'll be getting a fancy new plot-line added to the second arc. Don't expect much, but it'll be different, and I'll make sure to include something nifty in there to make it worth checking out. Now, back to work for the night.

0.21 Status Update

Like 0.11, 0.21 is going to be a fairly small update. As I get close towards the next big step, I tend to cram in more work, and more ideas, trying to get it all together as quickly as possible. What this usually means is the next week I'm mentally burnt out for ideas, and so all I can really think to do is add a bit of minor content. So that's what this week is going to be. The night after the Andriana fight with Angel, if you asked for her help, and probably some expanded Joyce dialogue, to make her relevant to the new fight as well. 0.22 is planned to contain more serious features, and will be a step forward once again. My apologies for the short content drought. On the flip-side, the Angel content is some of my best works, if I do say so myself.

Hope you've all enjoyed the game, and thanks to those of you who have given me the encouragement and help that I need.

0.2 has arrived.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, Shield High 0.2 has arrived. It's been made. It's here. The days of 0.1 are OVER. LONG LIVE 0.2! or something like that. So, 0.2, what's so special about it? Well, it's got full plot-line content up until Day 5 Week 4. So, two full plots, is what I'm saying. And it's got polish. I did a bunch of tests to hunt down the nasty bugs and fix them, so almost all features are guaranteed to work perfectly. The only ones that are iffy are the ending scenes.

So, here's the download link for it: http://www.mediafire.com/?3pozc1066g09z0w
And once again a reminder that Rags, located on the right, is necessary to run the game.

So now it's time to talk about THE FUTURE! Namely 0.21 and so on. This is important, because it's relevant to those of you who are in it only for the porn. Updates in the 0.2 branch will be, for the next few weeks, primarily focused on adding new NPCs to the game, new dialogue, new relationships, and more background. There will be some ero content, but a lot of what happens here is going to be non-ero. This is being done for a reason. By making a whole bunch of NPCs, that are fleshed out, I can later draw on them when I need a character to fill a role, rather than making a new one every single time. Also, it means I'll have more resources to draw on for the casual ero.

Wait, what? Casual ero? That wasn't mentioned before! That's right, the idea here is to make non-plot-centric ero part of it. So if you want a quick fling, you can find one. It also is a good way to include more niche content that may only interest certain people. Which brings me to my final point here, requests. While I'm not facilitating them immediatly, in the coming weeks I'll be opening up donations, and taking requests with them. The exact details on how much you can request to how much you donated remains to be seen, but I'll work something out.

Anyway, this ran on a bit long, so I'll stop there, and I hope you all enjoy the latest update.

Earl's Musings: A note on Shield High, and the choices presented.

So I'm doing some writing for the end parts of 0.2, and I've been confronted with a situation. The player's made a bunch of choices already, that have led them to this place, but now there's a question: Does the character promise to be nice, or is she planning to be an equally large bitch as her opponent? And this is where I get a little stumped, and have come to a realization about Shield High.

The simple fact is that Shield High isn't a game about you. It's not a self-insert game, where you can name your character, or define your features. It's a game about Jessica, and her situation. While it's very true that a lot of her actions are left up to the player, there's also large conversations in which Jessica speaks, not on the direction of the player, but in the way she would. So this is where I get to the problem I'm faced. Is giving the player this decision something that I should do, or is it best to leave it to the story?

Honestly, I'm not sure which is the better option, the one that would make people happiest, or the one that might be considered "right". But I do know that the way this game has been made so far, a choice like this wouldn't really have enough impact on the story to be worth including, and that letting Jessica be Jessica is probably the best approach. Though at the same time I feel kind of guilty. I'm denying the player options. I'm telling them that no, they aren't allowed to be a complete sadist. But at the same time, Jessica isn't a complete sadist, she's picking up a taste for sadism, but only in moderation.

I suppose, in the end what I'm saying is that this is a roleplaying game, but one with a pre-built character. You can only act as the character would, and see how they turn out. It's an interesting situation, a nice contrast to most "roleplaying" games that are made today, where the player makes whatever they want, and then makes almost no serious choices. Or makes "serious" choices the only impact of which is to make a big deal of something. That conclusion kind of went off on a tangent, but whatever. The point is, Shield High isn't about you, and if you would do something that Jessica wouldn't, and think that's a problem, then I guess the game isn't for you. Or something.

Just a little thought I had as I was writing, I doubt anyone will look at it, but still.

Glitches and Bores. And a few apologetic words.

I'd like to first take the time to say sorry to EVERYONE who has played my game up until now. I've been hunting through the code for bugs tonight, in preparation for releasing 0.2, making sure all the features work as intended. I was mainly testing the features I'm planning to include in 0.2, making sure the night's work was fine, when I stumbled upon more problems. Then even MORE problems. Then a couple MORE problems. So I'm making this post to say that I'm sorry. I've made a ton of mistakes so far. However I promise you, 0.2 will come to you free of these glitches. In the code reviews I learnt a lot about how Rags works, and I now know how to make everything inside it tick properly. So, in the future, I will be programming the game correctly, without these issues, and that means more content per week. Well, a little less content per week, but content that you can actually SEE. As it currently stands there are two major bugs, and only one that effects the current versions. Unfortunately said bug does deny a large portion of the content. So yeah, once again, I apologize.

While I'm posting, quick update on 0.2:

Content Additions Progress: Around 30%. Lot's of non-Ero writing to go, but that's easy stuff, a bit of tinkering to do in the mechanics to make sure it all works.

Stability: A LOT of issues currently present, but a few re-designs are planned to address these problems, and pretty much every glitch is solved, the solution just hasn't been put into effect yet. Couple that with the content situation, and the game isn't very stable yet. Definitely be finished by next week though.

Possibility of Delays: Medium. Internet's capped right now, so I might just say fuck it and wait until Friday to update, when the cap resets. Maybe. We'll see.

And finally, a bit of news on the intent of the content. I guarantee a complete plot-centred game up until Week 4 Day 5. Future updates to 0.2 will be based around adding further features to the first week and a half, such that no days have nothing to do. This will mostly be in the form of background NPCs, or just short and random encounters to bring Shield High to life.

On time as always: Shield High 0.15 released.

Pudding Earl plays Starcraft. I considered putting that in the title but decided against it. Instead it goes in the first line, followed by an awkward explanation, which I then go on to ignore for the rest of the post.

The title says it all folks! Shield High 0.15 is now done. And for the first time ever I actually went out and hunted down INCOVENIENCE bugs, rather than just game-breaking ones. When I say hunted down I mean had play-testers complain and point them out easy enough for me to quickly fix them. Regardless, debugging is debugging, and 0.15 is smoother than ever. Now it's more like coarse sand paper, as opposed to a saw blade. In addition to that I touched up some of the plot, and actually programmed out a new fight. But I didn't add the required framework for the fight to actually be accessed because that last bit was a little rushed. Next week not only will you have a new fight, but you'll also have a nearly fully polished, shiny version of 0.2.

Yes, that's right, next week is 0.2. This is my promise. Now I'm going to eat those words, but hey, at least I went out doing what I love, spinning glorious lies for no real purpose or gain. Now to quickly distract you and hope you forget I said anything, HERE'S THE DOWNLOAD LINK!

As always, I hope you enjoy, or at least find it good enough to not send me hate mail.

The Earl's Musings: Introduction and a little news.

Alright, so this little thing here, the section labelled "The Earl's Musings." That's stuff that I'm thinking about, that I feel like sharing. Not wanting to be all like "SURPRISE GUIZ! HERE'S MAH RANDOM THOUGHTS ON A TOPIC." I figured I should give everyone who reads this blog a fair warning about the imminent danger of random gaming-related ideas. That's my promise though, this isn't going to be something like "So I was on the train today and this guy decided to do this REALLY annoying thing so I'll make a blog post about it." No, nothing like that, it'll all be thoughts on games, stories in games, game mechanics, games I like and think I should give some love in case someone else likes them and I find a kindred spirit. Just so we're all clear, Pudding Games, not just a development blog for a single ero game. Also about other games.

Like this one that I'm going to spring on you RIGHT NOW! So, today began the official play-testing of a card game I'm making. I have no delusions about it taking off any time soon, but I'm working on it all the same, and today we got to play a few games of it. It was surprisingly balanced, with only a few things proving to be truly stupid. Most of them got hot-fixed and tested further. Conclusion: It's good stuff. A lot of the mechanics do need to be fixed up though, since every game ended the exact same way, normally with my defeat. But that's okay because we accomplished SCIENCE! I'd like to note that I have one more game on top of that one, a roleplaying game, but I'm being even more tight-lipped about that. And I've been pretty tight-lipped about the card game so far.

Anyway, just my little piece of personal-ish news I felt like sharing, partly because it's exciting, partly to prove I'm not a totally depraved pervert, and that's only a part of my personality. A rather large part, but a part none-the-less.

Bug Fixes. Bug fixes everywhere. Also an insight into the features of 0.15

Title says it all folks. Thanks to the guys over at /d/ pointing out a bunch of bugs I'd completely missed I've patched up lots of little over-sights I'd made previously, and gotten the game into a significantly less buggy state.  Which isn't to say it's without bugs, just that it's got LESS bugs. I'm sure knowing my luck I'll show off 0.15 in all it's polish, and someone will instantly poke a hole in it. But that's to be expected with a game in such an early stage of development.

Since I mentioned 0.15, I figure I'll give a quick run-down of what's to be expected. The Punish feature for Karen now exists, means winning her as a slave actually gives you a real benefit. I've got the Service feature slated next on the slave front, followed by the Reward feature. Though don't expect those for a while. Other things that 0.15 is doing include a bit of plot advancement. Don't expect any new fights this week, but I'll be adding almost all of the infrastructure for them, so 0.16 can be purely fight programming. So basically, unless I somehow over-shoot the mark, 0.15 is looking to be an important, but fairly light update, mostly dealing with maintenance. A sad state, but an unfortunately necessary one. I'd postpone the release a bit and promise more solid content, but the bug-fixes included make this kind of like a hot-fix, that happened on the scheduled updating period. So nothing like a hot-fix. Whatever.

Once more, a big thanks to all of you who've tried the game out, I hope you all enjoyed it, and I hope I stay on your radar long enough to impress.

0.14 Release

That's right the highly anticipated* 0.14 has just been released. So, what does 0.14 actually do? Well, I'd love to tell you, because I'm sure I did some awesome shit. But I went out for the weekend, broke my train of programming, and so forget everything I did between Tuesday and Friday. HOWEVER I do know there's a bit of plot in there. A very obscure bit of plot. And a fight. A pretty good fight too if I say so myself. So yes, the plot advances. What does this mean? It means 0.2 isn't all that far off. Once this plot hook is finished I plan to officially dub the game in it's 0.2 stage. Once that's done, well, I have some plans which I won't share.

Anyway, download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?hxhqeawc7qecqsu
And on the side, as always.

Enjoy!

Playtesting is a thing. I should do it.

Well. For 0.14 I started testing my new features, and in the process I found a lot of old ones had gotten broken. While I haven't tested my 0.13 yet, I imagine it's probably just as bad, so to anyone who played it, I apologize. While being an alpha product means your going to encounter bugs, I really shouldn't have let there be THAT many in there, so yeah. Big fuck up on my part. So, from now on I promise I'll be bug-testing every new release I make, and if there's too many bugs, I'll either fix em up before release, or make sure there's a big tag saying how buggy the release is.

0.13 on time

Even with a cold I still manage to deliver. So here it is, 0.13, in all it's glory.  I'd tell you all the changes but honestly, I think it's more fun to just let you explore around for yourself. Sadly I haven't gotten to the plot advancement yet. BUT IT'S COMING. I PROMISE. 0.14 WILL contain some serious new plot.

And just a reminder for anyone new that you need the Rags Player, which is in the bar to the right. Enjoy!

0.13 as it's looks to be.

0.13 is still a fair bit of work away, but I've got at least a vague out-line of what it'll contain, so I figured I'd throw it up here, and then make a post later when I know the features for certain. Features as they're currently looking to be:

-Conversation with Angel. You can now actually talk to her about a lot of things, and get to know her as a character.
-More plot! Yes, that's right, I'm FINALLY advancing the plot. It won't be a huge advance, so it's not worth of 0.2 just yet, but an advance of any sort is still a pretty big deal. This will be a general plot advance, so no more of this multiple plots bullshit I've been running thus far. However, in keeping with my theme thus far, the details of the plot will vary based on what's happened previously.
-The inclusion of a character image for Jessica. Not a huge deal, but something worth noting all the same.

That's all that I've made progress on so far, however I have punishment options for Karen slated, and being worked on, and conversation options for Kaylee and Sasha are on the agenda too. Don't get your hopes up about that Karen one though, I'm not expecting to finish it until at least 0.14. There's a LOT of writing to do.

More soon.

Long overdue update

Greetings.

So, not even up to 0.12 and I can't keep my own fucking schedule it seems. However, I have SOMETHING of an excuse. My net got capped, and I couldn't upload worth a damn, nor could I really update my blog in anything resembling a reasonable manner. And so, a week later with not-capped-net, I'm posting up 0.12. It's got a bit more content than I intended to put in, but not as much as it'd have if I was releasing 0.13 this week. That's partly due to laziness, partly because it was still labelled 0.12 and I didn't want to do a lot of things meant for 0.13 just yet. Also I've been doing some work on a bunch of other projects, but until they're closer to completion they'll remain a secret.

0.12 can be downloaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9n63mywb8dmxogs or on the side, as always. Features include:

-A shop in the locker rooms
-A time feature, as well as a re-do of the opening sequence to work with this new time feature.
-A bit of story for if you submit to Karen at the beginning.
-A bit of story for if you lose to Karen in the second fight.

Now that I've read that list I actually realized half of that was meant for 0.13, and it actually is a surprisingly large update. Oh well, 0.13 next week I guarantee it. Features to be advised.

Shield High 0.12 preview

So, 0.12 is shaping up very nicely. Not as nicely as 0.11 I'm sad to say, some personal issues arose this week which screwed with my ability to work, so I've been working much slower. But fret not, for 0.12 IS coming and it DOES have some changes. So, here's a quick summary of what 0.12 does:

-Adds Madison, whom you can buy various toys off. These toys will allow alternate endings to fight scenes, as well as more creative punishments for slaves, when slave punishment is implemented. (Which is scheduled by 0.14, don't worry everyone.)
-Adds time to the game. I know this doesn't SEEM a big deal, but I promise you it is. For instance, the period between fighting Karen the first time and the second time no longer has to be awkward, as you have methods to advance the plot. This also means future updates that make the game more sandbox-y will have a much easier base to build upon.

That's all that I've put in so far. However, release isn't for another three days, so work will begin on alternate plot paths, primarily what happens if you submit to Karen. Don't expect that line to be fully programmed in 0.12, but I promise there will be at least the beginning of a plot there.

Pudding Earl.

Shield High 0.11 is here.

That's right ladies and gentlemen, Shield High 0.11 is officially released. It contains:

-Joyce, a major but optional plot character, she's got numerous sex scenes, and a couple game over conditions tied to her. She'll be a big asset to you, if you manage her right.
-Angel, she makes a minor appearance, and allows the player to advance if they choose wander instead of train at the beginning.
-Spelling mistakes are fixed. No more feets.
-Probably a bug fix. I don't ACTUALLY remember if I fixed it or not. If I didn't well, I'm sure you guys aren't cheaters anyway, right?

Updated game is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?l1ymgsnzehcmny3

Expect 0.12 next week.

Shield High v0.11 just around the corner.

Greetings.

Not wanting to seem as though I'm unmotivated, I'm making a blog post to announce that the various loose ends of 0.1, as well as a couple of new characters are being worked on, and 0.11 will be released soon. So, quick list of things that 0.11 will do:

-Fix the issue where choosing to wander instead of train will cause the game to go no-where.
-Add Angel and Joyce as characters that can be seen and interacted with. Joyce is also a useful resource of information that can provide insight into other characters, the story as a whole, and how to best handle each fight.
-Include a game over sequence. Bad ends only for now.
-A bunch more ero-scenes, mostly tamer than what we've got so far, but they're going in a different direction.

After that, unless things go horribly off schedule I'll be releasing 0.12, and then going straight on to 0.2, which will further the plot, and provide a bit more player freedom.

Hope the few who have played are enjoying the game!

Pudding Games Launch!

Greetings and Salutations.

Welcome to the Pudding Games Development Blog! Here you'll be able to download various game projects I've been working on, hear the latest news on future updates of said projects, as well as read the unimportant ramblings that I occasionally deem worthy of writing a blog post for. It should be noted that this is actually my first attempt at seriously making games, after numerous failed efforts that I simply didn't have the motivation to pull off. As such expect that some of my works will be sub-optimal, especially since they will mostly be in their early stages, and thus even more prone to glitches, and guaranteed to be feeling slightly incomplete.

Now that I've got the talk of me aside, I can unveil the first of my many projects to come. Shield High, a text ero-RPG focused around a highly improbable school, and the shenanigans that occur within. The plot is difficult to summarize at best, so instead I'll settle for a content run-down. Shield High's content varies from pathetically tame, such as girls merely being stripped to their underwear, to blatant sexual slavery and gang rape. All of the content is entirely lesbian, in fact, I don't think there's even going to be a male character in there. On average the content will usually be focused around public humiliation, with occasional forays into outright BDSM.

Shield High is currently in a 0.1 stage, with only the first, semi-compulsary plot in place. There's a couple of bugs, and more than a few dead ends, however it's playable, and feedback is always a nice thing.

Download can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mqv92y720lnoq7m or in a link on the side.

Shield High, like many of my games, uses Rags, the player can be found here: http://www.ragsgame.com/Downloads.aspx

I hope you all enjoy Shield High, as well as any future projects I feel are good enough for public release.

Pudding Earl.
