Yup, that's right, I'm finally back with another release. For those of you hoping for new content there's...some good news and some bad news. It's just the first week, again. However, it's a completely newly written first week. Some old bits were copied because I simply couldn't improve on my old writing. (Which was, of course, perfection), but all the sex scenes are new.
You can download it here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jbzxzld8jgj9xfa/Shield_High_JS_0.68.7z
A few things to note, 1. This only works on the challenge Karen route. Submitting to her doesn't even have a scene yet. It really should, but I spent a few days faffing about with a feature that didn't make it into this version. It'll be in the next version maybe. So long as you challenge her, the game will run smoothly forward.
2. Interface elements are, at times, a bit fucky. Dialogue buttons are positioned poorly in some cases, and combat bars don't work entirley right/aren't placed right. I'm gonna get to this, if I'd had another day I would've done it, but I felt disgusting last night, so I had to finish up writing tonight instead, and so the time that would've been spent fixing interface was spent realizing half my events didn't work and patching them up.
3. Combat balance is almost none. I actually want feedback on this, let me know if it's too frustrating, let me know what you think can be done to make it run smoother. I'm expecting to alter my numbers every update for the next five or six months until it settles into something that's fun.
And now some things about the future. First off, I intend to be releasing to a monthly schedule. So that means I will be putting out 0.681 in exactly a months time. However, that will only be out in a month's time to any patrons I pick up on my patreon. Which presently doesn't exist, but will tomorrow, and I'll edit in a link there. For everyone else, you'll have a one to two week delay before I kick things into gear.
[UPDATE: THE PATREON IS NOW UP. YOU CAN FIND IT HERE: https://www.patreon.com/PuddingGames]
And speaking of my Patreon, I wanted to make some quick points about that. I understand that trusting in me after all this time away is a massive ask. So if you have any doubts about my staying power this time around, I strongly encourage you to hold off on becoming a patron for a few months. I'll be posting here on a weekly basis to keep everyone updated with how things are going forward and what I'm working on, so you can hopefully see that things are indeed happening. That having been said, if you are one of those people who intends to start donating after a few months, please do leave a comment saying so. I'm far too easily demoralized, and so having a vague idea of how many people are holding off but do intend to sign up will help a lot.
Finally, and once again this is me asking for feedback, I need opinions on what I should focus on content-wise going forward. Should I rush out the main plot? Or should I try and build up the content around it? Would you like more character development and just generally hanging out with people? Or do you just want as much sex and fighting as possible. Let me know, and I'll see what I can do.
Anyway, sorry for the long-ass post and the longer-ass disappearance. I hope you all enjoy the limited amount of content I've added.

More Shield High news and a little more of that book stuff.
Hey everyone!
This month I have some much better news for you regarding Shield High. Which is I'm at the point of adding content for the first week. The combat works, but it needs some balance tweaking. I'm not going to bother with that just yet, but instead release it for everyone to try it out and give feedback. I'll probably make some huge changes with every update after that to get everyone's opinion on what works best, and then work from there.
So, how long until it's ready? I'd guess two weeks. That's a guess though, I provide no guarantees that it'll be ready then. And it'll be missing a few key features. Mostly saving and logs. Maybe not logs, I might find time to sort them out. But almost certainly saving. I need to spend some time really thinking that one over, and when it's just a week of content, it's not worth sorting out. And I kinda need to make some sizeable changes to check if saving will work out. I have some vague ideas for how saving will work, but they're just that, ideas. Also vague.
Anyway, on to that bit of book stuff I mentioned. Book 2 is coming out tomorrow, it's been published and is being reviewed right now. But in the meantime, Book 1 is free for the next 5 days. Once again, you can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQ5W5G4
Look, look how free it is. Grab a copy, read it, leave me a glowing review so I might actually make some money off this thing. It's not going to stop me from working on Shield High, so don't worry about that.
I'll comment with the link to Book 2, just in case people want it.
More to come.

Some updates(and shameless self advertising)
Alright so, been a while since I made a post here but I'm going to go ahead and do so now with a two-point agenda. First off, I'll just get the shameless advertising out of the way. I published a book. Not the one that first distracted me from Shield High, that's waiting to be rejected by publishers. This one is a rather quick and simple book I did up in about two months because I felt like it. It's on sale for like, $3 on Amazon, in case any of you feel like being babes and buying it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQ5W5G4
And now onto the second point, which is what all of you guys care about. An update on the status of Shield High. Am I working on it? Yes! Slowly! I've been side-tracked for the past week by sorting out...so much shit with this book, plus some personal issues, and so on, however I'll be back on the case soon. So far what I've gotten done is...dialogue, in theory combat but I haven't tested it because of the big thing that's proving a bitch: The AI. Presently I'm trying to make the AI a bit more...consistent. It'll be a bit predictable at times unfortunately, but it'll generally speaking make intelligent decisions towards it's goals, which I think is a good thing.
So yeah, Shield High is still going, book is out. That's basically it. Second book is coming next month. In case you like the premise of the first and want more. The second has a hint of lesbians, if you need something to push you over the edge.
More updates...eventually!

A question and possible future of Shield High thingo
So it's been over a year since I made a post here, but I've been thinking lately, and since something came up this morning I'm a bit more re-energized by the idea. So to the like, 30 people who happen to pass through here on any given day, (Holy shit how are there so many I've been dead for a year) I want to pose a question.
If I were to open up a Patreon to get back to work on Shield High, would anyone look at supporting it? I've been playing with the idea of getting back to work on Shield High on and off for a few months now, to the point where I have a new framework that avoids most of the bugs of the first one lying on my computer waiting for me to inject a combat system into it. Really the only thing lacking is an incentive to get working, which the promise of even a few hundred dollars a month would probably provide.
Alternately, regardless of responses to this point, I'm looking at pitching the game to Nutaku, who are looking at investing the in adult games. They're also apparently picking up a sales team out of the community so if any of my fans happen to be on said team, throwing in a good word would be much appreciated.
And as a final point of news, mostly to people who would be on the fence about Patreon and need a little more incentive to throw their voice behind me doing it, in the past couple of months I've befriended a rather reliable artist, who I today asked about helping out with Shield High. I asked for the Nutaku thing, however given his tastes, regular commissions off Patreon money would probably also be an option.
So yes, that's the situation relating to Shield High and my considering bringing it back.
For those who care about my personal life, I finished that book I mentioned, and it's now sitting in the inbox of a bunch of publishers waiting to be rejected. I also wrote a whole other light novel in the past 2 months which I'll be publishing on Amazon probably next month. It's not at all lewd, but I'll throw out a link to it in the comments for those of you who just love my work in general.

An update on the situation and my absence and stuff
A dear fan of mine pointed out that I should actually make a post explaining the situation right now, so I'm doing so here. Game is currently on stall because I don't have the brain-space to work on it. My book is almost ready to send to the first literary agent, and so after I do that I'll be working to edit up the parts they aren't seeing just yet to get it all up to standard. Then I'll either be going through the publishing process, or sending it around to other people. Both of which will be time consuming. I've also got a holiday coming up next month, during which time I won't be working. And finally, I've been in a depression phase of my creative cycle, so even if I wasn't busy with anything, my output on Shield High would be trash.
So, that's why there's been no work on it. That's why there won't be work on it for some time. Will there be more work on it when this is all done? Ideally. Depends on the outcome of the book. If it publishes and makes fuck all money, I'll likely be back to working on something else. If it publishes and makes a sizeable amount of money I might be in a position to set aside time for Shield High. Proper news will just have to wait.
Sorry for not getting around to this sooner.

MOAR EXCUSES!
So, I ended up falling sick. Not like, cripplingly sick or anything, but certainly looking at code and deciding "No, watching all of Jurassic Park is a better idea" sick. So for that reason I haven't gotten everything done as fast I'd like. It's happening, slowly but surely, and you should have nicer sized pictures on the usual release time next week. And then hopefully my nose will stop being dumb, and I can go back to working on this and my book at night instead of watching movies forever.
I am become Jessica, it seems.
